Mayer And Salovey's Four Emotional Intelligence Model
1.1 Emotional Inteligence Emotional intelligence (EI) is a term that has become widely used in the past 25 years, and incredible claims have been made regarding its importance. There are two main theories on which most programs to improve emotional intelligence have been based: Mayer and Salovey's four branch ability model of EI (called the "Abilities Model") and Goleman's four emotional competency model. The Abilities Model includes four main abilities: identifying emotions, using emotions, understanding emotions, and managing emotions. Identifying emotions relates to being able to recognize your own emotions and the emotions of others. Using emotions requires the use of emotions to make better decisions, like by taking someone else's perspective on a situation. Understanding emotions involves being able to understand more complex emotional states and to see how they work in the social environment.

1.2 Who is an effective leader?

By definition a leader is a person who was the responsibility to influence one or more people with whom he or she works towards completing a set objective (Bruce E. Winston and Kathleen Patterson, 2006). There have been many studies that have tried to explain what does it mean to be an effective leader, but in the end they all come to the same conclusion. These issues are very common around the world and are something that many leadership development programs work on improving, but there is not standardized way or set norms on how to improve interpersonal skills. In fact, very few business school in the United States actually include training on emotional intelligence in their management
