The protagonist in the book “Me and Earl and the Dying Girl” is Greg. Greg is a senior in high school who does not have too many friends. He has one close friend named Earl who is also a senior in high school. They get along very well because they both really enjoy cinema and making films. Although besides that Greg does not have too many friends. He likes to be alone and not really be recognized by anybody. Greg has been friends with a girl named Rachel since sixth grade. Rachel was recently diagnosed with Leukemia. Rachel’s mother and Greg's mother had recently suggested that Greg and Rachel should hang out. After lots of conversations Greg and Rachel had decided to hang out together. The author Jesse Andrews states “What can you possibly say to a dying person?”. This is when Greg tries to come up with what to say to Rachel to make her want to hang out with him. …show more content…
After a couple of times of them three hanging out Rachel mentions that she would like to see the films that Earl and Greg had created together. Earl was all for it and was like yes let's show Rachel. Greg was a bit scared and nervous because he had never shown anyone their films before. After a lot of encouragement Greg and Earl were ready to show Rachel their films. Rachel loved their films and had shared that with a girl named Madison Hartner. Madison then suggested that Earl and Greg make a film for Rachel. Greg and Earl finally agree to make the film for Rachel. Although they regret their decision when they struggle to find a subject for the film.
