Media Credibility
I had chose to watch two of the local news channels to see if one was better than the other.
WNEP, Good Morning America 8am vs. WBRE, Eyewitness News 9am
One of the news stories that I was paying attention to on both channels was about three bodies found in Cleveland, OH. I found this story depressing because I cannot figure out why anybody would want to kill someone else or themselves. WNEP spent 3 minutes covering this story and was not as informative as the 5 minutes that WBRE spent on it. They both had some interview with people at the scene.
Another story was the Roller Coaster death in Texas. A woman was riding a roller coaster at Six Flags Great Adventure in Texas and she had been secured into her seat but told the person checking the harness that she was not sure she was completely locked but he told her she was fine. A witness even confirmed the woman was concerned about her harness not being tight. The woman that was killed from being ejected out of her seat had her kids on the ride as well. I found that WNEP only spent 2 minutes covering this story and not very informant; whereas, WBRE has spent 4 minutes covering the story.
I had come to the conclusion that WBRE spent more time on their stories and had more convincible information and seemed more sincere when they covered these two stories. WNEP did not really seem to express their condolences at all in away to the families that were left behind from either story. I believe that WBRE is more credible because they had more solid information and they spent more time covering the story and they also showed a heartfelt sorrow for the families that lost members. If I actually watched the news daily I would watch WBRE because of the time they spend covering more serious stories and not dwell on other things that are not as serious.
