The year was 2013 and my 16th birthday was a little over a week away. My mother came into my room and said that were going to celebrate my birthday now because my sister was in town. My family decided to reschedule my date of birth celebration so it could fit in my sister’s schedule, even though she would have only been 30 minutes away if we had celebrated…
I woke up on the ground with my ankle sore and my head throbbing. Then I realized that it was my seventh birthday, I was so excited! It was an amazing feeling when I remembered that I was going to have a party at the park! The only thing I didn’t know was that I was going to climb a ladder that day. I was also going to get a little wet. Then we finally set up the party and everyone arrived and then we had cake and started playing tag.…
My 17th birthday was a life changing event because I feel closer to adult stage. I had a tongue ring but I took it out because it was my first one I ever had and it didn’t feel right. Now I know how it is to be a teen close to an adult.…
I have moved around quite a bit which means there have been many significant moments in my life, but one seems to stand out, It happened a few months after I moved to my sixth school, Parkers Prairie High School. While I was only in seventh grade, I was still considered a high-schooler because of the way the district functioned. This meant that I had harder classes and more homework, but it also meant that I could participate in high school clubs, so I became part of the PPHS Knowledge Bowl Group. A significant event in my life is when my team won a Knowledge Bowl Meet because I got out of school, I got to meet new friends, and it gave me a strong sense of accomplishment.…
I had just gotten home from school and I was carrying a small bag of presents my two closest friends gifted me. That day started off better than any of my other birthday’s by said friends decorating my locker as a surprise. I remember stepping into the living room and instantly facing a 180 mood swing. I was having that feeling you get when you’re excited to eat leftovers of your favorite food, but then quickly remember the food was never there. Meanwhile, my Mom was feeling a typical case of motherly nosiness and asked what was inside the bag.…
As I walked into the room filled with eyes shooting my direction, I noticed that I was one of two Asians in my class. During the second week of school, a chubby Hispanic girl mumbled “ugh, china” as she passed the glue during our project. The feeling of anguish in one’s stomach and cold anger that I felt when she called me that was well, hard to stomach. They say that revenge is best served cold but at the time I did not know what the word china meant but I knew that it could not have been good because all the kids were laughing at me. The lone feeling of being in the middle and the laughingstock deeply scared my memory and made me a very cold and introverted person. Because of the clear segregation between…

A memorable day in my life first day when I came to America. My family and I traveled from Nepal to the USA. We were very nervous because it was a new place and we didn’t speak enough English. When The Giver told Jonas “Welcome Receiver of Memory,” on page 75, it was just part of the story. But now it’s, loaded with symbolism in this sentence. All the people in the story don’t get to know the history of the past, but this sentence shows that there is history in the book and that someone is going to find out all about the history and memories. The Giver, by Lois Lowry, has a theme of memory/history and three examples in the story, are Jonas, animals, and elsewhere. In this essay you will find why these are representing memory/history.…
To me the greatest birthday a child can have is when they turn 18. Now, who is this great for the child transforming into an adult or the parents watching their child leave the nest. When I turned 18 I starting working right away, I took a job at the local hog plant and I decided it was time for me to man up and get all my finances ready to move out on my own. Underneath all of my bravery I was scared to death when I moved out in to the real world on my own, I had not fully prepared myself in how to cook, how to properly wash my clothes and even how to shop for the basic groceries I was going to need around the house. The relationship with my parents changed when I moved out. I relied more on my Mother than ever before. I was not fully prepared so I would call my Dad when I had issues with the car. My perception of living on my home and entering adulthood completely changed when the reality of life hit me in the face.…
The most memorable time in my life was my daughter's cleft palate surgery. It was January 4th when my daughter and I had to leave El Paso, TX to take a trip to Austin, TX. It was a long drive for a little baby like her at the time she was only two years old. Early that morning my parents took us to the bus station. The bus was leaving at 6 a.m. in the morning to get to Austin, TX at midnight. My daughter and I felt it was the longest drive ever as the bus was very full and kept stopping. Finally, we arrived to Austin at midnight. I had to walk around for some time until I found a cab to take us to the hotel. I was scared and nervous. I was all alone with my daughter in a city we didn't know. We arrived to the hotel and finally felt safe and some peace. As soon as we walked in the room, I called my family and let them know we were good.…

Getting ready and all took three hrs after she got done with my hair I went back home to change into my big dress that I was gonna be wearing all day that day.…
