What is the mission statement? 1. The Mental Health Association’s mission statement states, “The Mental Health Association in Greensboro provides leadership in identifying and addressing mental health needs and serves as an advocate for those dealing with mental health challenges by promoting hope and recovery” (http://www.mhag.org/about-us/, 2015). This mission statement provides an excellent foundation for the organization, and is a good example of a quality mission statement based on guidelines in this week’s module.

According to Bruce Johnson, a good mission statement has the power to “drive your company” (Johnson, 2015). Thus, one’s goal is to properly formulate a proper mission statement, assisting in the companies direction and sucess. The Mental Health Association provides a quality mission statement, according to the four rule standards; provided in this week’s module. The first criteria met by the Mental Health Association, is ensuring a short and easy to remember mission statement. This mission statement is only one sentence, but detailed enough to make its intended point.
Second, simple language is utilized in this mission statement, which is relatable and understandable. There are no words, which are specifically meant for industry professionals. In other words, this statement would be understood by most people who would read it. There would be no intent, lost in translation. Thus, the mission statement is short and simple enough for the average individual to comprehend, without having it be explained by a
