Increased awareness and education has inspired Meo women to come out of the four walls of the home. Many Meo women actively supported and participated in the Panchayati Raj Institution election and secured eminent positions in Mewat. Traditionally Meo women exist because of the family and for the family. Just like their man counterpart, women are also fond of attending social functions and value her social life quite a lot. Previously, men-folk used to discourage women from leaving their households for attending social functions. Now the spread of education, especially that of women, and with that the changing social attitudes of educated women have changed the order. Meo Women of both urban and rural areas have realized the significance and importance of education to challenge the age-old domination and exploitation of patriarchal Meo society. They have found education as a means towards empowerment which would ensure their participation in the politics and decision-making in all walks of life.
For instance, earlier whenever any Panchayat Meeting was held on in village all the male family members are called to attend the meeting and women were advised to live in home and cook food etc. Women are equally interested to know the discussions and decisions made on meeting but they were not even informed by their husband and son. They were dominated by their own family members. But Things are changing now. Educated Meo women are significantly challenge structures of patriarchy and they contesting election, attending meetings and do all works that men do earlier.
Education is another area where parents were usually inclined to spend less on the daughters that on their sons. Today there is an increasing change in the attitudes of the parents regards the education of girl
