Michael Jackson was an important musical artist because he was a true humanitarian who did everything in his power to “heal the world.” He did so by writing songs that encouraged people to better this world, supporting at least thirty nine charities, and starting the “Heal the World Foundation.” Aside from doing his humanitarian work, Jackson was an outstanding performer. Michael was born on August 29, 1958 and passed on June 25, 2009. Known as the “King of Pop,” Jackson was one of the most popular musical artists to ever live. His songs “Man in the Mirror” and “Heal the World” are two of the most emotionally inspiring songs that exist. The creative music mixed with the emotion he puts into the lyrics is enough to make anybody want to change the world . “If you wanna make the world a better place, take a look at yourself and make that change,” is probably the most truly, influential lyrics in a song. “Man in the Mirror”begins with him singing about how he sees children that are cold and hungry, and he cannot even pretend not to notice. “I’m starting with the man in the mirror,” is him encouraging people to make a difference and do what they can to help this world. “Create a world with no fear, together we’ll cry happy tears, see the nations turn their swords into plowshares,” are some lyrics from his very popular song “Heal the World.” These lyrics are so powerful, and his support for world peace is incredible. Jackson was mocked for many things he did in his life. He suffered from “Michael Jackson disease,” a skin disease known as Vitiligo. This disease caused his skin to turn white in many places. When the Vitiligo starting spreading on his hands, Jackson started wearing a white glove on his hand to hide it. Eventually, Jackson bleached his skin, making him completely white, which made some people very angry. He was also ridiculed for getting a nose job. Yet Jackson did so much for so many people, he was shamed for doing things that he believed would better himself. He continued to create music and his ideas about the world never changed. There were many rumors that Jackson sexually assaulted young boys, but it was never proven. He endured a lot of mockery from many people, but he never gave up and continued to create beautiful music. The world was devastated when we lost Michael on June 25, 2009. His death was so unexpected. His personal doctor was accused of killing him, but he claims Jackson asked for more pills, and he gave them to him. The truth about Michael’s death may never be uncovered, but it does not change the amazing things he did while he was alive. Overall, Michael Jackson was an amazing and inspirational artist.
