The world of technology in the last fifty years has changed significantly, especially the mass media. Looking back at the things that have changed in our times we have literally come a long way. We have seen the Morse code/telegraph, the radio broadcasting era, the daily newspaper, TV, and finally the World Wide Web. In today’s general public we depend on high-tech communication to keep up with our education, job productions, and interactions/relationships on social networks. It is a powerful instrument that we all have become so dependent upon. Even though it can be used for helpful but positive interactions then again it can mislead us to a negative reinforcement. We put our trust in the media as an expert witness to give us a summary of what all is deemed to be important. Criminal justice has had a major impact on the media with known television shows such as C.S.I. or First 48 that targets murderers or even the fictional high-tech machines that is used to solve a case. However, the influence of mass media is always there to manipulate, complicate, and to obscure our decision when it comes to the crimes that are being portrayed.
To begin this decision I would like to start off on the way that reports of the crimes are being televised. I deliberately think that the media is designed thru the economic concerns; to benefit them for higher ratings on all news or Hollywood productions. They have a tendency to over exaggerate delinquencies/corruptions at any given time. My expectation is to try to give the onlooker or person who reads the paper the anxiety of the offensive to show them photographs of the crime scene or even to witness a body being covered with a white sheet. Then I think about the TV show that is true to its limelight which is the First 48, real detectives solving real crimes with real situations/people. The media tries to interview any
