Miley Cyrus: A Controversial Issue In Today's Society

A controversial issue in today’s society is Miley Cyrus and her recent statements and appearances. As soon as her Hannah Montana contract with Disney ended, Miley went a little crazy not considering the consequences once due to how long she had to be the face of Disney. She had so many young fans who idolized her and wanted to be just like her. Now, parents everywhere are trying to keep their children discovering her and wanting to do the actions she does. Miley Cyrus recently hosted the MTV Video Music Awards. This lead to the majority of the viewers to react negatively to statements she made during the awards show. I do not agree with the remarks she made at all. She stated that she was going to vote for Donald Trump for president,
told Justin Bieber to “call her when he was legal,” and many other things. In my opinion, she needs to think before she speaks. Another issue that Miley Cyrus does that society talks bad about is the way she dresses. Her costumes and everyday outfits are revealing and show a lot of skin that a lot of people wouldn’t agree with. I think that she should have the ability to wear whatever she wants. Personally, I wouldn’t wear most of the outfits she does, but it’s her decision and she’s an adult and can pick out her own clothes to wear. Lastly, Miley Cyrus is a big supporter of feminism. She has said how it is not about her even being a feminist, but supporting everyone and what they wear, who they like, or how they want to live their life. I support this and think this is a really good act Miley is doing not only for women but everyone. Overall, I respect Miley Cyrus. I might not always agree with what she says or does, but sometimes she does do good deeds for people. For instance, donating to charities or even simply stating she supports a cause that could better the world if it’s cured or fixed. I don’t think she is a good role model for young children but she is for people around her age.
