Paraphrase:
In "Mirages" by Annie Dillard winter is a time of emptiness. Summer is full of life and activities. The days seem to never end, the season brings back life to things once dead in the winter, and people seem to be coming out of there hiding places. Even as the sun falls people light fires and long to go for a run. The lakes and rivers are swarmed with boats and people that it is hard to believe that in the winter it was nothing more that a desolate place. One the beach people

The summer solstice marks a shift in the year: everyday gradually becomes shorter, and closer to winter. In some religions, the summer solstice represents enlightenment, and new beginnings. The image of nature as pure is repeated throughout “Summer Solstice, New York City” by Sharon Olds. “Summer Solstice, New York City” relates the story of a man trying to commit suicide, but choosing life and finding comfort in the police sent to rescue him. Initially, the title seems irrelevant to the rest of the poem; however it reveals contrasts throughout the poem between nature and technology or corruption that display the reason for the man wanting to take but ultimately saving his life.…

In Robert Southey’s “Winter”, the poet depicts winter as a positive connotation. Although is made out to seem like the old, grumpy man, it is a grandfather-type who enjoys the unity that the season brings. In the beginning of the poem the poet says, “A wrinkled crabbed man they picture thee,” meaning all the people that see winter imagine him as a mean old man but if you stop to look around you see the closeness and bondage the season brings. Winter sits atop his great armed chair watching the children celebrate Christmas but he also sees the bad things winter brings.…

The summer gets too hot here, (although it gets hotter in other areas), allergies rise; work gets tiring, and business gets slow. The good thing about summer is that school is out, vacation time is at hand and there is a lot of relaxing time. The winter on the other hand is too cold, (although it doesn't snow here) people are more susceptible to diseases, outside dogs freeze, it gets too cold to do work, and there are runny noses in every room, but at least all the good holidays are in winter, and the best part of winter is you can cuddle up with your loved ones. That is why there is the autumn and spring; the climate then fluctuates up and down plants are in bloom in the spring and they become harvested in the autumn; one can also decide whether or not to wear a jacket /sweater.…

Why is winter considered a lonely time of year? Is it because of the barren trees and other plants? Or is it the fact that every person on earth, it seems, flees inside to escape the cold? E.E. Cummings considers this topic of loneliness exquisitely in his poem titled, “l(a.” Cummings was born in late 1894 in Cambridge, Massachusetts, and was an American poet, painter, essayist, author, and playwright.…

Jim Harrison, in her poem “Winter, Spring” articulates the new born -Spring season brings joy to trees and animals and also nature even though Winter has been “black” miserable, dryness, and anti-blue sky. He develops this idea by first, describing images of a winter as “drought” which has negative connotation and excited for Spring to come; second, by foreshadowing that the land will turn green because of its effect on “good rain” nearing actual Springtime; third, by symbolizing “green” as renewal of the year and also freshness associated with this color; fourth by exaggerating how “the world turn green” at this time of year to appreciate the nature of Spring that everyone excite and wait for; fifth, by the irony of the birds “fly past” from…

A positive feature of summer is being in tune with your senses. For example, smelling fresh cut grass in the morning, bon fires at night and barbeques, that is how you know summer has arrived. One of my favorite moments of summer is in the late night hearing my family around the bon fire laughing reminiscing on life events or strolling down memory lane. And in that moment if I want to tune them out and be in tune with nature I could clearly hear the crickets chirping away and the buzz zapper zapping mosquitoes every few minutes. As for a negative aspect of summer would be going into your car after shopping for 3 hours and feeling the heat rush all over your body, making it worse if you have leather seats burning your thighs and legs. Not a good feeling!…

Langston Hughes’s, “Early Autumn,” is an example of something that can happen in everyday life. The conflict in this story shows how one decision can result in a time of sadness. I believe the author uses the end of fall and the beginning of winter to show just how cold and empty the relationship is between the characters. It could represent that there was nothing to say, in the story it seemed like she was happier to see him than he was or maybe he was in shock.…

Everyone surely cannot forget the humid air of the summer, beautiful flowers of the spring, falling leaves of autumn, and as well the snow of the winter. Every season has its own unique weather that differentiates one to the other. Apparently, summer and winter are the two that contradict each other. For summer, the first thought that comes to mind is sunshine; and for winter, it is snow. In addition, the weather, activities, and clothes are the distinctive features that contrast the two seasons.…

These lines suggest the negativity that occurs during a typical day in summer, and act as a support for the speaker’s reasons for why his lover is more temperate. “Rough winds do shake the darling buds of May,” suggests how the winds in summer can become so violent that they shake and ruin the beautiful flowers that are beginning to bloom in May. “And summer’s lease hath all too short a date:” uses “legal terminology” and compares the length of summer to a lease or contract that holds part of the year, but the lease is too short and has an early termination date. Another reason I love the autumn are the feelings of change and gratitude. It might seem like a New Years idiom, but for me autumn is the most perfect time to mark new beginnings and reflect on the year that’s gone by. Maybe it’s the transition the environment makes, the colors of the leaves and the warm air turning cool. It’s intoxicating. As I crack open my bedroom window and curl up on my bed draping a cashmere throw over my legs, the smell of the leather from my journal mixes with the cool air and aroma of a newly opened bottle of wine. I sit and write about the year behind me, the memories and thoughts the ideas of my future. A nice counterpart to enjoying time with loved ones, it’s a perfect atmosphere to enjoy time alone; this is why it is my favorite season.…

The description starts with a general characteristics of the season as it is, the word “season“ itself on the very beginning . We can sense some sort of Indian summer throughout the whole paragraph. There is “Summer“ as a season mentioned on the last line accompanied by the verb “o’er-brimm’d“ which is showing a sort of an overtaking of the Autumn days by Summer again. “Warm days“ (10) preced which makes a connection with Summer again, evoking a thought of a sunny day typical for this season. „Sun“ itself, mentioned on the second line is portrayed as “Close bosom-friend“ (2) of Autumn, underlining the relation between the two seasons, Summer reflecting and echoing in Autumn as Indian summer.…
