During this report I will reflect upon my educational and training experiences over the past two years and I will also reflect on my continuing development throughout this period. I will then go onto analyse my current situation, demonstrating my understanding of strengths and weaknesses and including the underlying reasons. There will be a development plan which will indicate the areas where changes are required in order to improve my performance and demonstrate how these changes will be made during the current and next semester of study.
Over the past two years I have gained two qualifications in childcare. The first qualification gained was Level 2 Health and Social Care Diploma. I then went onto obtain an NVQ Level 2 in childcare whilst doing a apprenticeship for one year. During this period I had one study day per week for the theory part of the course and a two day placement in a nursery gaining work experience with infants from 0-4 years old. Gaining the work experience as well as the qualification gave me the confidence to apply for nursery nurse positions when my apprenticeship had ended. Shortly after I had my first interview and was offered a permanent position working in a nursery. After a couple months I had settled in well and began to consider undertaking a higher qualification ( NVQ Level 3 in Childcare). I enquired about courses online that would accommodate home study which would in turn enable me to continue in fulltime employment. I then found a training centre that would allow me to complete the course in 8-12 months from home, so I continued to work fulltime and was allocated with a tutor that I would meet up with monthly in the nursery setting to go through the course units. There were four different observations over the 12 month period that my tutor had to carry out in order to track my progress and monitor my interaction with the children.
