giving someone a second chance you also teach them a lesson. For example, in the story A Christmas Carol Scrooge was always cruel and mean to everyone he had a second chance when he was shown his Christmas past, present, and future. When getting a second chance you might learn something that you didn’t realize before that would change your perspective on things. The ghost of Christmas future showed him that if you are mean to everyone you won’t have anyone, Scrooge learned this when they were at his funeral and the people didn’t want to go unless they were providing food. Also, when everyone was at the funeral they were stealing from him. Scrooge learned to treat others the way you want to be treated. One reason I believe you should give people a second chance is they can help others that are going through the same thing they went through.
Cole Matthews had been in trouble with the law half of his life, he had gone to an island with no other people hoping to change. He went to the island and came back because his own ignorance almost got him killed, he realized that he had the fur from the Spirit Bear in his pocket. Instead of showing everyone proof that the bear was real, which the old Cole would have done, he dropped it into the water. He did this because he didn’t want to rely on physical proof, he needed to rely on the truth so that he can gain the trust of people. Giving people second chances means that they can change themselves either little at a time or all at once. By getting a second chance Cole because more considerate and caring for other people and put them first, rather than always putting himself first. Cole Matthews wouldn’t have been the same person he is at the end of the book if he didn’t get a second chance. Peter, a boy Cole beat up before changing, came to the island to learn from Cole. Cole showed Peter how to carve a totem pole and carry the the ancestor
rock. Another reason to give someone a second chance is to help them get back on track with their life. By helping someone get back on track they can change their life for the better. For example, if someone stays back in school for failing a class they have the privilege to go to summer school so they can prove they are ready for the next grade. It can simply just be retaking a test or classwork assignment. These things could help them prepare for the future. In conclusion, I believe that you should give people second chances. What if they make multiple mistakes? Should they still get their chance then? If they got multiple opportunities then they didn’t get the help they needed. We are all human, we make a lot of mistakes in our life we should take that time to correct them. This is significant in the real world because without the mistakes we make we can't learn anything new from them. In conclusion, I believe you should give someone a second chance, Because second chances are not given to make things right. But are given to prove that we could be better even after we fall.
