Greeting courtroom members, I am Shaneka Lewis apart of the Defence Attorney and I will be representing my client Donovan Tisi pleading not guilty upon the robbery and bodily harm charges. On December 5th 2013 at 5:30 PM, Anver Williams had claimed to be walking home from his basketball practice where he perhaps had been wearing his brand new basketball sneakers. As Mr. Williams was walking home he decided to take a short-cut home from a dark alley way that leads to Eglinton Ave. As Anver Williams was walking he seemed to come across a group of older men. Anver Williams explained how the young men approached him and toke away his hat and his sneakers after while being brutally attacked. My question and argument court, is to why my client Donovan is being called upon out of all of the young men who had claimed to be there during this dispute, is there enough proof or evidence to show that Donovan Tisi had been there or even took part in this crime, that Anver Williams is not sure of who had harmed or robbed him? As we are gathered here court I would like you all to investigate or try to find real evidence to prove that it had been my client Donovan that shows his participation in this act.…

In “We, the Public, Place the Best Athletes on Pedestals,” author William Moller presents his explanation for the widespread use of performance-enhancing drugs (PEDs). Moller begins by telling a story about his past experience with PEDs. During his sophomore year of high school, Moller was under immense pressure from himself and others to achieve a standard of excellence and secure the top spot in his class. After pulling three all-nighters in a row and forcing himself to stay awake for more studying, he willingly took a PED to improve his focus. It was easy for Moller to make the decision of being rewarded with a good test grade and risking the consequences of getting caught, instead of doing the right thing and falling to his competition.…

Between 1985 and 1989 the Vernonia School District began to see a marked increase in disciplinary problems, drug use by students, athletic injuries, use of drugs by athletes and a student body preoccupation with the drug culture. Age 9. It is a time where she is given more seemingly minor responsibilities: more things to clean, more homework to do, more laundry to fold. No kid likes that, but "big girls" don’t cry. Instead, they tie their hair out of their faces, hold their heads up high, smile politely, cross their legs, and dressed to impress. This just wasn't me. My plain, monochrome sweats would hang loosely from my hip bones as my straight, long hair would cover my long face. To my family, this was a sign of disrespect. But it only showed how little they really knew about me.…

As an Accounting major, I am very interested and have become fond of learning about the varying business aspects within the sports industry. As a result, I decided to conduct my interview with a professional that is associated with the business operations of athletics. The person that I interviewed was Dawn Reynolds, the Senior Associate Athletic Director for Business and Finance here at the University of Miami. After initially getting in contact with Ms. Reynolds a few weeks ago, I was finally able to meet with her briefly and conduct my interview on November 30, 2010, in room 261 in the Hecht Athletics Center. Just to give a bit of background information about Ms. Reynolds, she is from Elmira, New York and now currently resides in Coral Gables, Florida. She graduated from the University of Miami with a major in Finance and started her career at Liberty University in Lynchburg, Virginia where she worked for four years as their budget coordinator. As a past president of the College Athletics Business Managers Association, she was named the College Athletic Business Manager of the Year in 2003 and has since served on various committees including the ACC Finance Committee and chairs the NCAA Minority Opportunities and Interests Committee. She has worked with the University of Miami for the past 20 years and is currently the Chief Fiscal Officer for the Department and is a member of the executive management team. Below is a list of ten questions and answers from the interview I conducted:…

As David Sack clearly states in his blog article called: “Do 'Study Drugs ' Breed a Nation of Winners – or Cheaters?”, there are many consequences regarding this particular form of drug abuse. The ‘smart pill’ has invaded the American colleges and the students love it. But David Sack asks why? In his experience, the hopeful students, who we call leaders of tomorrow, have no problem using performance enhancing drugs to get higher grades, but using steroids at the gym is still seen as a felony among students. Really there’s a huge double standard of morality when talking about these ‘smart pills’. David Sack has learned that the young mouths speak: “Why work hard, stay up all night studying and still risk not doing well when you can pop a pill, get good grades, and make teachers, parents and coaches happy?”1 Of course this is a valid and agreeable argument, but at what price do these brilliant exam results come? David Sack is in the belief that cooperation should beat competition, and this is in spite of competition being taught to children in the busy society of ours. However, while the competition itself…
