Molding Doctors: A Case Study
Molding Doctors is a pre-medical organization at UT Dallas. I have been a member of Molding Doctors since my freshman year. During my sophomore year, I decided to become more involved in this organization, becoming the Secretary. My junior year I served as the President of Molding Doctors. As President, I planned and led general meetings, organized events for the organization, oversaw the tasks of the officer team, and acted as a mentor to underclassmen pre-med students.

During the 2016-2017 school year I will not serve as a Molding Doctors Officer but I plan to continue my involvement in this organization by serving as a Molding Doctors Upperclassmen Mentor to freshmen pre-med

“You’re transferring schools, Karina!”, my mother exclaimed a week before my sophomore year. Ultimately, this was the last thing I wanted to hear. I kept trying to decipher whether the news was good or bad. Moving to a Medical Magnet school smelled like defeat, and I was not fond of change. Public school was my forte. I was adapted to crowded lunch rooms, lively classes, and having classes such as art, band, up to ROTC. I wasn’t aware of it at the time, but there was something hidden behind my personal chaos. Overall, this life-altering experience is what shaped me into the dedicated pupil and aspiring health care professional I am today.…

Those in the healthcare profession are respected, hardworking individuals who went above and beyond to prove themselves capable of helping others in the greatest way possible. My career goals are very straightforward. I’ve taken several steps in high school to accomplish these goals by being well disciplined in my studies, and participating in a Health Careers Internship Program. This program offers me a variety of opportunities that make me a more applicable in a healthcare setting. I’ve learned how to build a strong résumé and cover letter, and how do professional interviews well. We also get the chance to observe and participate in a medical environment. I’ll be shadowing with Dr. Steve Carr at Northern Star Therapy and learn the basics of physical therapy. I’ve done also done volunteer work in a Geriatric setting, at the St. Benedict nursing home in St. Cloud. My plans following high school are to attend the University of Minnesota in the College of Biological Sciences. My hopes are to complete my undergraduate in there in the Pre-Medicine program, attend graduate school, and specialize in a currently undecided field of…

Growing up in Newark, New Jersey was not easy for these three boys. The streets were dangerous, each of their family’s had money issues, and they had broken homes. There weren’t many people who pushed and inspired these boys to do great things. George became inspired to be a dentist when he was just a young boy. The EOP had a program called the Pre-Medical/Pre-Dental Plus Program. This program helped people who didn’t have enough money to start medical school. With less than a year left of school, I’ve been applying myself in so many different areas in order to better myself as a future doctor. Volunteering, shadowing and extra-curricular activities have all been part of my doings. I've got to admit these past three and a half years have been, by far, extremely interesting and challenging. I have been learning about life, health, body systems and their functions. It is fascinating to learn about the biological and chemical make-up of the human body and the countless processes that are occurring constantly within us. I am looking forward to entering medical school to learn in an even greater detail about the many different interactions with our body systems.…
