The objective of this article is talking about the Zika Virus of the fetus brain. The objective provides the necessary evidence to support the objective. It explains how the Zika virus is destroying the fetus brain and it is telling why and what is creating this. The author gives very detailed information about the Zika Virus. She explains how the Zika Virus is causing pregnant women to get infected and most likely have more problems and shows the harm of the fetus brain. The Zika Virus is causing the fetus brain to be deformed. The author explains how overtime the brain will slowly become abnormal but, she explains that just because the fetus can be born with a normal head does not mean the fetus has escaped the damage from the infection.…
The researchers discussed in class and all agreed that Zika Virus is a very dangerous and continuing to plaque southwest Florida. In hopes to promote public safety and aware other about the virus and how it can be contracted, the researchers decided to focus our intervention towards first year students living on campus. The researchers started off the project by contacting Florida Gulf Coast University Student housing and Residence life. The plans for a Zika Virus intervention were shared with the administrator of Eagle Hall in South Lake Village which is an on campus, first year housing for students who attend the university. On September 20th the researchers sat down as a group to discuss a game plan of how an intervention would be arrange…
In this magazine article “Five Things To Know About The Disneyland Measles Outbreak” it talks about a recent outbreak that happened in Disneyland in Southern California, and what are the possible reasons for the outbreak. The outbreak occurred because there are a lot of children who were not vaccinated because their parents thought vaccinations could harm them. So this particular person carried the virus with him to Disneyland and spread it to others and non-vaccinated visitors got it. In this article it explains why this outbreak wasn’t because of undocumented immigrants as some people say, it was actually because of the U.S citizens themselves. Some citizens choose not to vaccinate their children and put their children in danger and this strongly affects other non-vaccinated children (due to their weak immune system) who are around them. It emphasizes that people should vaccinate their children and they shouldn’t think that vaccination could harm them because if they get a virus and spread it to other people, it not only the families choice on the their children but its also effecting the rest of the community.…
One of the main ethical concerns of the Zika virus has to do with the people. Of the articles I read, the ethical concerns have to do with religious beliefs and honesty of the general public involved. Since many of the health care professionals recommend mothers to be on a steady form of birth control if they are planning to travel anywhere that will have a chance of catching the Zika virus, it conflicts with some people’s beliefs. For example, a woman going on birth control is directly against the Catholic Church belief. This raises ethical concerns amongst a large portion of the population since so many people are Catholic in the world. Another point that raises ethical concern is the honesty of the public. As an example, if someone is asked…
Most people think that the Zika virus is a new virus that has just struck people out of nowhere, when in fact it has been around for nearly 70 years. The Zika virus was first discovered by a group of scientist in 1947, in east africa. Stated in ‘’Zika virus for Essential Hospitals’’, Zika virus, named for its East Africa point of origin, a Ugandan forest, was first identified in 1947 and did not appear in humans until 1952 (‘’Zika Virus’’8). This helps you to grasp a better understanding on how the Zika Virus is not a new virus, but just an old one bringing forth a new threat.…
New diseases and pandemics shock government and individuals, and are many times difficult to treat. This remained true in the past, whether it be the Black Death or the Influenza pandemic of 1918, and true today, as examined by governments and society trying to adjust to the new threats of Ebola and Zika. The 1918 influenza pandemic and the current response to Zika can be compared by examining how similar they are in terms of showing how government quarantines can be counter productive and how government actions taken during the flu hurt the Ebola response in the modern world.…
When people travel outside of the United States, they risk getting an illness because if they don’t have their vaccines, they’re more likely to pick up on the native sicknesses that people from outside the area aren’t used to. This means that if they were to travel home, they could cause an outbreak of something, like mentioned above in the Texas story. This obviously doesn’t happen all the time, but when it does, it can be bad for public health in the general area. When people also travel in from other countries can be a problem. Such as with the minor Ebola outbreak, we aren’t always in control of the situation, but then it’s a problem of containing the outbreak and keeping everyone safe from the…
Overall eyewitness evidence strength was further examined across prosecution outcomes in the eyewitness identification alone cases” (Flowe, 2011). When it comes to being a creditable source of being an eye witness there are many things that, factor how using someone’s testimony as accountable source. When it comes to linking and eyewitness testimony and the accusing someone under false pretenses there has been amplitude of research that has being placed into forensic psychology to help see how useful resources are when it comes to taking an eyewitness word. “The connection between erroneous eyewitness identification evidence and wrongful convictions has been the motivating force behind much research in forensic psychology” (Wells, 2006). When…
Although many of the prenatal diagnostic tests such as amniocentesis, amniotic fluid test, or molecular assays such as real time Reverse transcription polymerase chain reaction (RT-PCR), RNA testing, are being used and benefited from couples wishing to have healthy infants, detecting zika virus by prenatal diagnostic testing raises many important ethical issues. First of all, judgment is one of the most important values related to prenatal testing. Parents are choosing to terminate a pregnancy based on indication of virus infection that causes birth defects no matter what the consequences. Regarding to the Institute of Medicine, prenatal testing should not be used for minor conditions. How is responsible for making the decision if it is a minor…
As it has been explained repeatedly, but I want to reemphasize, Zika is not like Ebola. This is not a human-to-human transmission, with the one exception that we'll talk about. It's primarily transmitted through mosquitoes, a very particular type of mosquito. But what we do know is that if you contract Zika, even if you don't appear to have significant symptoms, it is possible for Zika to cause significant birth defects, including microcephaly, where the skull casing -- the head of the infant is significantly smaller. We think that there may be other neurological disorders that are…
Advances in medical science have enabled us to live free of diseases that were once global epidemics. However, in recent years there has been a reoccurrence of diseases like the measles. According to the Center for Disease Control (CDC), outbreaks can occur from travelers and segments of the population who have chosen not to vaccinate themselves, or their children (CDC, 2015). There is three reasons why you should vaccinate your children. First, vaccinating your children can prevent them from contracting various infectious diseases. Secondly, vaccinating your children can prevent the spread of preventable infectious diseases. Lastly, vaccinating your children will help eradicate several infectious…
If the vaccinations and medications were available to the people in these countries the virus would be preventable even more. The people also need to be educated about the disease and the risks that it can lead to.…
Due to the increase of transition the liability of a pandemics and fatalities are higher than ever. Since, the germs are not native to our country, our bodies are not tolerant or immune to the unfamiliar disease. If the infected person comes in contact with others a medical epidemic can be started. Consequently, vaccines not only protects you from indigenous, but also, external disease. A vaccination is an easy and simple step that will ensure the safety of a child or an adult’s life.…

Measles and polio have traveled into the United States, diseases that were once declared eradicated in 2000. The outbreaks commonly begin with a U.S citizen traveling outside the country and bringing back the disease. Many people may argue with the medical advancements a diseased person can be contained and cured. Which is true, it isn’t common for a person to die from measles. It is however expensive to treat and contain. Which does affect everyone because it’s paid by the taxpayers. When less than fifty people contract an eradicated disease the costs total the price of a house.…
