This nation is not perfect, so we can only hope to improve it. To do so, we must find and criticize the hypocrisy in our country’s history with the fairness they once promised to their people. It is evident that the Preamble of the United States Constitution was hypocritical in 1787 because of the narrow vision of “the People,” because of the economic divide, and because of the issues plaguing their justice system, all proving that the promises written in the Preamble went unfulfilled in the year it was made. Foremost, the Constitution’s definition of “We the People” did not extend to all in its land, challenging the possibility of forming a more perfect union when the people in this union were treated unequally. For example, the circumstances of the African Americans did not reflect these ideals truly, as they are referred to as “such Persons” in Article 1, Section 9, Clause 1 of the Constitution: People.…

The American government has kept the promise of common defense and domestic tranquility. An example of the government practicing domestic tranquility was enforcing The Patriotic Act. The Patriotic Act was enforced October of 2001, following the attacks on 9/11. The act made it possible to enforce stricter national security and defuse any acts of terrorism. A general act of common defense that the government has done is simply having a strong military, navy, air force and army.…

A True Testament of Time, The Preamble to the Constitution The succinct, memorable, and iconic legal document, the Preamble to the Constitution, is a true testament to the American style of writing and is an instantly recognizable piece of literature when the first three words are heard. The document, written by many members of early American politics such as Gouverneur Morris, a founding father, an American statesman, and an acclaimed diplomat and senator, aided heavily on the considerable impact the Constitution had on not just the nation, but the world. Senator Morris’s work on projects such as the 1777 Articles of Confederation, what some consider to be the “original” constitution of America, was what helped make positive progress in early…

The preamble to the Constitution begins with the three words, “We the people,” which is one of the most well known phrases of all time. The preamble states the purposes of the United States government, the first of which is to form a more perfect union. Framers of the Constitution included this in the preamble because the US is a collection of states run by state governments that are united under one national government. The national government was supposed to make the country stronger together than individual states. The provisions that achieve this are Articles four and six. Article four says that states must honor laws and court decisions of other states and cannot escape legal obligation by moving to another state. This is meant to strengthen the union of the states. Article six states that when a state law and a national law conflict, the national law is considered the supreme law of the country. This is meant to create a stable and strong national government. Today, government is still fulfilling this purpose by providing a stable national government to lead the country and by ensuring that state governments have the right to make decisions.…

It is said that the Preamble is not a part of the Constitutions nor a source of rights. But it can certainly be referred to in knowing the aims or purposes of the Constitutions. Dean Vicente Sinco says of the Preamble: “The preamble performs a vital function in a constitution. Its value is not merely formal but real and substantive. It is to the constitution what the enacting clause is to a statue. The authenticity of the authorship of the constitution is made patent in the preamble. Without this or something equivalent to it, the source of authority that gives valid force to the constitutional mandates may lie concealed, perhaps left to the dangers of uncertain conjectures.”…
