Most Significant Moments
There are many different moments that define someone’s life. The most significant moment might happen when you are 2 years old, or maybe when you are 70. I personally think this moment has yet to surface in my life. With that being said, the most salient moment in my life so far would have to be when I decided to sign up for the football team.
One day I was relaxing at home after school when I heard about the weight training program the high school offered for football players. My friend encouraged me to try out the weight lifting and determine if I wanted to play later. My mom didn’t want me to play because of all the news she heard about concussions and injuries. I told her that I was going to just do the weight program and we would talk

No, I didn’t end up hating or liking it, I loved it and was immediately hooked. We practiced for two weeks that spring and then we were off to team camp.
Team camp was a whole other story, we rode a bus to evergreen state college and got settled into the dorms which is what we would be staying in for the 4 days we were there. All we did was play football, eat, and sleep. We woke up bright and early ate breakfast, practiced, ate lunch, practiced again, then scrimmaged other teams. Going up against another team for the first time was exhilarating. Getting to ball up all of my anger and release it by hitting someone as hard as I could is the best feeling in the world.
After playing against other teams I realized how much passion is poured into high school football, now that is what really drove me to get better. The people you meet is one of the best parts of football, the relationships you form. The reason football has changed my life so significantly is because a football team is like a family, in a way they are like brothers you can always count on to have your back when no one else does. I wouldn’t trade football for anything else in the world and I don’t want to stop playing anytime

I play quarter back for Pensacola Catholic High. To me football is one of the biggest adrenaline rushes you can get. The game is fast and I like that. When I play football I feel unstoppable and I love it. When you play quarterback the game is in your hands and it is up to you to lead your team to victory. You have to make sure your team is focused and prepared. You have to be a good leader to play quarterback. If your team starts loosing you can’t just act sad and give up. You have to do the right thing and give your team a pep talk and tell them to step up their game like a good leader would do.…

I have been to many basketball camps since I have entered high school. After a couple of years they become routine for players. I got my first opportunity this summer to go to a football camp at CHadron University which I figured couldn’t be too much different than a basketball camp. I figured you played a few games, went to bed, woke up sore and repeat the process like in basketball. I found out that there are actually a lot of differences between basketball and football camps then people would think.…

My family did not let me renounce my dream, and they helped me prepare for the next year’s tryouts by driving me to club tryouts, countless lessons, and intramurals. Daily, my brothers and I would practice in our backyard just tossing the ball around. Every day, I would improve, serve the ball further, and my confidence would grow. My dad encouraged me to attempt to play for club teams, and even if I didn’t earn a spot on the team, at least I would gain practice and experience. I tried out for four club teams, and I didn’t earn a spot on any of them, but I believed my skills were improving. By chance, I found one club was having their tryouts much later than all the others, and when I showed up, I was the only one there. They asked me to play for them, and I agreed, but they resulted to be private lessons. Every Monday, I would practice for a couple of hours with a student coach. Occasionally, I would play scrimmages for other teams. Most importantly, I enjoyed those weekly practices. In the final weeks, leading up to the school tryouts, I attended a variety of intramurals and camps. I enjoyed playing with other girls, and I enjoyed the sport. Even though I was usually the weakest player, I enjoyed playing the sport more than winning. When the time came, I was confident in my abilities and prepared to earn a spot on the…

My parents always made sure they put me in every sport I wanted to keep their chubby-cheeked, energized, wide-eyed five year old happy. My dreams of becoming a professional athlete were certainly in the makings.…

No one had thought it was my Anterior Cruciate Ligament, but it was. It had been completely torn in half and I needed surgery for it to be repaired. He had already put in my name and date for the surgery and everything. I felt like I was paralyzed from the head down. I couldn’t help but feel so torn up about not being able to play the whole season. I decided after the surgery I would try my hardest to recover and build my self better than what I was. Ever since my freshmen year of high school, football has been the only thing that has mattered to me. I was given the opportunity to dress varsity as a freshman and being around that atmosphere, being on a successful team was intoxicating, especially to me at such a young age. I loved every minute of it, and I knew I wanted to be the one out on the field making the plays I watched that whole year. I made it my goal from that year on, I was going to give everything it took over the next three years in order to be the best football player possible.…

Field hockey wasn’t my first true love. My first love was softball. I believed that I had found the sport that I loved and wanted to play as long as I could. My mind was set for the long term, and I believed that this was the sport for me. This all changed when I was introduced to field hockey. On the last day of middle school, I was approached by the middle school coach and she asked me if I wanted to come out and play that summer. I was hesitant to agree, since I planned on playing summer softball and I didn’t want to have multiple practices a day. In the end, my friend Naomi convinced me to sign up. Weeks started to pass without a word from the coach, and I forgot all about signing up for hockey, until one day she called my mother’s phone…
