Motivation letter
I am writing to apply for Postdoc position in your laboratory on wastewater treatment. I would be very grateful if you give me the opportunity to make an exceptional contribution and participate in your laboratory program
I graduated in Environmental Engineering in 2004 from Houari Boumedienne University,
Algeria. During my studies I became very interested in water and gas pollution treatments, its principles and associated method that allow the evaluation of potential environmental pollution risks and theirs prevention.
In the context of sustainability, during my final year of engineering diploma, I worked on photocatalytic elimination of phenol using helical reactor, Catalyst and U.V. light.
In 2008, I have magister Degree in Chemical Engineering at Houari Boumedienne
University, Algeria. When developing my magister dissertation, I applied my research skills in a real case study on wastewater treatment. It was a real challenge and a very interesting experience for me to develop a new photocatalytic reactor to eliminate recalcitrant pollutants by photocatalysis using UV/TiO2 system which convinced me to reinforce my effort and experience in the photocatalytic oxidation for water purification using artificial or solar light.
In 2013, I have Doctorate Degree in science in energy process option Chemical
Engineering. I have been working on photocatalytic elimination of pharmaceutical pollutants using of ZnO and TiO2 and a mixture of this two photocatalyst. This has reinforced my interest in this topic, to which I intend to contribute and get involved as a researcher. Currently, I am researcher in Solar Equipment Development Unit, UDES,I

The purpose of this experiment to carry out in the lab is because to determined the capability to water droplet to carry out the liquid-liquid extraction. The studies is to determine the average time travel for each of the 10 out of 50 water droplets from top of the burette and to the bottom, the average volume of each of the water droplet and the volume of NaOH needed to neutralise the benzoic acid in aqueous solution. From the volume collected for 50 droplets surface area and radius is calculated for a droplet. The uses of the surfaces area and volume help to determined the concentration of benzoic acid in kerosene, mole of benzoic acid transferred, molar flux and mass transfer coefficient.…

My environmental engineering classes, work experience with water treatment technologies, and volunteering abroad have shown me that water quality is a diverse problem with multiple solutions. The solutions to the challenge of providing clean water vary greatly, depending on the geography, climate, local conditions, and resources available. The best technology for one area might be reverse osmosis filtration, but with high amounts of energy required to maintain high pressure and expensive installation costs, this might not be the proper solution for areas without current energy infrastructure or without enough capital to build a…

    Gas Absorption

OBJECTIVE: To calculate rate of absorption of carbon dioxide into water from analysis of liquid solutions flowing down the absorption column. THEORETICAL BACKGROUND: Absorption refers to the transfer of a gaseous component from the gas phase to a liquid phase. The liquid surface area available for mass transfer and the time available for diffusion of the gaseous molecules into the liquid are important factors affecting performance. Absorption can be divided into two broad classifications: straight dissolution of absorbate (contaminant gas) into absorbent (liquid), and dissolution accompanied by irreversible chemical reaction. The gaseous contaminant being absorbed (absorbate) must be at least slightly soluble in the scrubbing liquid (absorbent). Mass transfer to the liquid continues until the liquid approaches saturation. At saturation, equilibrium is established between the two phases. The mass transfer rate of the contaminant into the liquid is equal to the mass transfer rate of the dissolved species back into the gas phase. Accordingly, the solubility of the contaminant in the liquid creates a limit to the amount of pollutant removal that can occur with a given quantity of liquid. This solubility limit can be overcome by providing reactants in the liquid phase that react with the dissolved gas contaminant, forming a dissolved compound that cannot exit the liquid. In this experiment, the performance of a packed gas-liquid absorption column is evaluated. A water steam entering the top of the column and exiting the bottom is used to absorb carbon dioxide (CO2) gas from air. The CO2 composition of the inlet…

Our guest speaker is the president of the Integrated Chemist of the Philippines, who is also working in the Environmental Protection Agency. In 2009, he discovered the Alternative Fuel that will be discussed for today and he was able to present his personal research in Massachusetts Institute of Technology on the same year. Recently, he is working for his another research on minimizing Volatile Organic Compound, a harmful emission that chemical plant generates as a product. While working in the Chemical Laboratory of the Philippines, he formed a group that will help our planet in preventing Climate Change; he called this group as “Builders of a New World Organization”. With his own was group, they organized the last year event the “Run for the Pasig River” which aims to develop the polluted river of Pasig. He was also one of the guest speakers of the prestigious event in Malaysia in the 2011, the “World Energy Outlook Climate Change Excerpt Launch”. And recently, he was awarded in the Ramon Magsaysay Award Foundation. Our guest speaker graduated as “Summa Cum Laude” in Technological Institute of the Philippines with the course of Chemical Engineering in the year of 2005. He was also the top notcher of 2007 bored exam for chemical engineers. Relocation to Germany after my wedding to a German National in December 2012 was the time when I decided to top up my five years of Defense management experience with a formal training in Business methods and etiquettes that only an MBA would impart. Prior experience in the technical arm of Defense services included work in diverse management issues, manpower management, training of subordinates, planning of resources and projecting requirements to various MNCs for designing customized defense grade solutions. On completion of my engineering degree in 2005, I decided to join the technical branch (Signals) of Indian Army. I cleared my SSB (Service Selection Board) topping the merit list amongst all technical graduates. I was then sent for six months of rigorous training to become an officer. The training included building of physical and mental stamina to work under stress and pressures to achieve pre-defined goals and strive for the best. Training taught me only one thing "Everything is Mental ". If you are mentally tough you can do anything to achieve your goals. Within six months I was a soldier, trained to take all kinds of stress, make decision and be accountable for them. I worked with Indian Army for five years and these years helped me to gain experience in all sort of man and material management. This, coupled with my experience of working for people from different cultural background, made me capable of nourishing a collaborative mindset to work with, and work for, different kinds of people across the vertical. This unique blend of experiences has elevated me to a vantage point that gives me an original point of view. An MBA focusing on leadership and global experience from Mannheim Business School would coat my experience so far with a veneer of holistic understanding and help me to achieve further career objectives and eventually contribute towards my final entrepreneurial goals. I wish to achieve a…
