Multiple Societal Issues In The Film Jaws

For the first movie, I chose to watch Jaws. In the movie, I could see multiple societal issues coming to play at Amity Island. First off, there was the issue of class difference between the mayor and the residents of the town. He cared more about making money during the height of tourist season (around the fourth of July) than the safety of said tourists. He would rather let a man-eating shark roam the waters and make money instead of closing the beach for public safety. He put the citizen’s lives at risk for his own benefit.
It was also interesting to see how the fishermen treated each other. For the most part, Quint was hunting the shark to keep the people of Amity Island safe (although there was the influence of money). The other fishermen
