My Christianity
There are many unique aspects of my personal background that have all come together to shape who I am as a person and in how I help others. The most passionate way I’ve helped others is through my Christianity by evangelism, sharing the doctrines of love, the gospel and the compassion of Christ to those who are not of the church, through volunteering. Helping others is something I have always been driven to and working with those in need have always seemed very fascinated to me, so I became well acquainted with the church, where there were men and women who could guide me towards this path of work. The way these ministers worked passionately and dedicated themselves to building a strong relationship with the community was very inspiring to me. …show more content…
The type of work I had interest in, was not as simple as basic volunteering. I learned ways to show people the love of Christianity through my lifestyle and actions. One of the most amazing parts of the church ministry is that I get to meet all types of people from different backgrounds and walks of life. Evangelism is also helpful to my life. When properly motivated, I learn how to love and care for my neighbors and strangers around me and how to interact better with those who are

Being active in National Charity League for six years, I have had the pleasure of working with many different philanthropies, my favorite being The Tualatin School House Pantry. Operating out of the basement of a church, the food bank helps to feed families in the community who are struggling financially. While my first few experiences at the food pantry were emotionally challenging, I found them to be very eye opening. I met many people from different backgrounds, yet they all shared the same hardship, the inability to afford food for themselves and their families. Wanting to do more for the recipients, I received training to be one of the personal shoppers.…

Ever since I was young, I was always interested in the idea of helping people other than myself. I never knew the actual meaning of truly helping another person until October, 2010, my freshman year. My resolve for helping others sparked into a flame when I visited a church in San Jose where I experienced something that would completely change my life. At this church, there was an organization called Milal that helps take care of people with disabilities. It was in that place that I was able to learn the true meaning of helping others.…

I volunteer in my community whenever I get the opportunity. For example, I helped students get to school safely and I helped out around the school. I volunteered at the public library to help younger children. I now see it is hard work to get children focused and help them not make a big mess, but I enjoyed helping them in any way I can. Volunteering at the public library also taught me about patience. Not everything went exactly how I planned it out, but at the end it still worked out. My time at the library also taught me about effort.…

Service is the reason I would be a good candidate for the National Junior Honor Society because I have volunteered in the past and would like to volunteer more in the future. I like volunteering because I enjoy helping people. I would like to join the National Junior Honor Society because I like school, I like to study and I would like to do more volunteer work. One of the things I did was volunteer in the World Refugee Day. I drew designs on people’s hands with henna, I also distributed water to the people who were there to watch, and I gave raffle tickets to the people who were participating in the program.…

In my current role at Palm Beach Count Food Bank, I have the opportunity to feed people in need. I would love to continue to volunteer on a regular basis, because it changes me, and me perspective. We tend to think of what is not going right in our lives, but when we are intentional about putting others first, a thankful heart starts to develop. For that reason, I think it is crucial to be selfless and focus on the needs of others. I am not saying to neglect one’s needs of family, but to take time to acknowledge all the blessings the Lord has given to us in order to bless others. “God is not unjust; he will not forget your work and the love you have shown him as you have helped his people and continue to help them.” (Hebrews 6:10,…

I am spending my time volunteering at St. Marks United Methodist Church (St. Marks UMC). This church is an open community, working to create a comfortable atmosphere for anyone and everyone in and around the area. I work specifically with the youth of the church and I reach out to students who are my age or younger than me. I have been volunteering at St. Marks for almost four years, assisting in many different groups and organizations sponsored by our church. I volunteer at this church because it has given me an opportunity to be myself, explore talents, and make strong connections, and I want to help continue this effort and reach out to kids who are struggling with a lot of the same difficulties I faced. I believe that volunteering here is a great experience for someone studying psychology because you meet and get to know many kids who are facing various issues in their lives.…

Here are some examples of my service to my community. During my 8th grade year in Elena Christian Jr. High School, both my classmates and I, we decided to do a beach cleanup. We chose the beach across from Water Gut. It was a wonderful experience because I was able to help out my community in a positive way. I volunteer and participate with the Junior Meteorology Club of Elena L. Christian Junior High School. I help with certain fundraisers such as; bake sales, car washes and collecting donations. I like to be there for people who are in need because it shows people that I am a caring and loving person. I also volunteered at the Agriculture Fair of 2010. I was helping out the Virgin Islands Police Department booth, assisting the police cadets, police officers, lieutenants and as well as the commissioner. Both my mom and I, we donated funds for Haiti at the VIPD in Frederiksted.…

I love helping people in many ways that can make them smile. When I help people it make me feel like I’m doing something positive to change their life in so many ways. When I help people I always made it the best. There are so many people today who don’t have support from their family, and friends, so I would be the person to help them feel comfortable and that missing person in their lives .Some people need that in their lives because people don’t have everyone like that in their family and can’t show them the love or support that some family do have.…

My interpretation of “people helping people” is “people helping people” can be looked at as a selfless act of encouragement to one individual or a whole community. By helping those with a certain need to only get the profit of satisfaction is a fundamental philosophy to keep our society well-endowed and strong as a community. I have personally demonstrated this in my community by participating in my school’s Operation Christmas Child to help children across the world see what a better life is and to help them reach it on earth, and with God. I also volunteered for four summers at our City’s Park’s Program as a junior counselor, watching children and giving them a place to enjoy their summer outside and also educate them as we took field trips to the Corning Museum of Glass. I personally have lived by my own interpretation of the selfless philosophy of “people helping people”…
