My experience as an AmeriCorps member furthered my interest in the multifaceted field of education. Serving as a member allowed for me assist students in the local community in their efforts to advance education policy within the Shelby County School system. Additionally, I spent time volunteering with Stand for Children, which provided me the opportunity to hear the voices of parents with school-age children, whom they thought were not receiving the quality education they should have received. From these experiences, I thought about the implementation of educational policy and came to the conclusion that teachers are at the forefront of the education system and that by ensuring that teachers are properly trained, we are ensuring educational success for students. …show more content…
This position has also provided me with ample opportunities to serve as the lead evaluator on a grant awarded to the local Big Brothers Big Sisters. Consequently, I strongly believe the combination of these, in addition, to my commitment to education, makes me a well qualified candidate for this
