My First Trip to Korea
My First Trip to Korea
This was my first time flying. I can remember getting on the plane scared and excited all at the same time. The plane was filled with so many people that looked like my mother all in the same place at the same time. They all had pale smooth skin, very slanted eyes, and coal black hair some long and some short. We had now begun our journey to my mother’s home in South Korea.
The flight was extremely long, especially to me. I was only five years old. This felt like a dream to me. Everything was so different and new. The people around me were all speaking broken English and Korean, as they talked the air was filled with strong aromas of garlic, hot peppers, and onions from the Kim chi they had been eating. Everyone was smiling and nodding as they were talking.
Once we reached the airport my Aunt was there to greet us. This was my first acutance to this side of my family. Things were nothing like where I had come from. The airport was so congested I was really afraid to let my mother’s hand go, fearing that I might get lost in the crowd. We finally get to the car and start traveling to my aunt’s house as we travel to the country side the scenery is different in many ways some of the houses actually look like Huts. There are lots of rice fields that extended for miles.
We reached my Aunt’s house. A tall apartment looking building, we entered on the first floor which was a restaurant. The people were eating and socializing. It was not nearly as crowded as the airport scene not by far. We make our way to the elevator we stop on the second floor there I meet my uncle small slender man smiling and nodding welcoming us. We entered taking our shoes off at the entrance; I look around and see pictures of animals and various little Buddha men statues with incense and lots of bamboo plants. There was no furniture, just lots of open space. The room did have the tall Hutch looking pieces that looked to be antiques. The adults gathered around talking and

I looked at my mom, then at the seat next to her. Dad couldn’t come because of a meeting, but I didn’t care! I couldn’t hold myself together, I felt like I was going to explode into little sparkles of excitement. My excitement is about to burst out of my chest. I’m going on an airplane! Then I heard a horrendous sound like nails on a chalkboard, my body jerked forward, I smelt the metal nasty smell of blood, lastly darkness closed in on me, tight.…

When I was young I always dreamed of flying on a plane. Finally, my dream was coming true, and I was on my way to the USA where I had always known I would end up. This was my first trip on an airplane, and it was also one of the most memorable experiences of my life. I remember everything about my first flight, and it was a lot to remember since it took twenty-seven hours from start to finish. The fight did have one stop in Japan, but that was just to change planes. Once my parents and I got onto the plane and sat down, I started to look at everything around me. I noticed the small white air vents right above my head with little lights next to the vent. It was so great because the controls were right on my armrest. There was a place on the armrest to plug the headphones in in order to listen to music or watch a movie. After everyone got settled into their seats, the airhostess came over the intercom and explained all of the safety procedures. But I am going to tell you; I couldn’t understand what they say, besides staring at their body language. They also showed everyone how to put the seat belts on correctly. After the airhostess was done with…

“Lorin! Are you ready to head to the airport?” I heard my mom call up the stairs. I grabbed my suitcases and headed down the stairs, trying not to fall as the suitcases were heavier than anything I’ve ever carried. As I walked out of my front door to my mom’s car, my brother shot me a dirty look. I laughed.…

And so, I made my way in, as I tried to push open the door, it collapsed which made me even more warry of what was to come. But then suddenly I found myself in my parent’s room, which still held the scent of my mother’s perfume and the strong aroma of my father’s deodorant. Though this sense was in my head, and soon I came back to reality, by having the overwhelming stench of rotten floorboards and the garden, makings its home inside make its way inside of my nostrils. I see, for the first time in a long time, my parents, though not how I imagined. Their bones, though very brittle were laying on the bed, with my mother in my father’s arms, I broke down.…

As I got closer, I realized that it was my cousin with large ears and chubby cheeks who came to pick me up in his black, with red strips car. During the car drive, I saw how clean and beautiful the roads were. I also saw that all the people walking on the street had different way of dressing with a hat on their head, long t-shits and baggy shorts. As we drove through my cousin’s neighborhood I saw that most of the house looks the same with v-shaped roofs. My cousin pulled into the driveway and carried all the heavy black bags in to the house through the tall and wide front door. As I entered into the house I saw how beautiful and different the house was. The house was way different than the house we had in India, the houses here were made of wood with carpet all over the house and a v-shaped roof while the houses in India were made of grey cement and bricks while cold and slippery tiles all over the house and with a flat roof. After eating delicious, home-cooked, Indian meal we all went to bed. The next morning, we went to the High School that I was going to be enrolled into and was starting in December.…

I saw a lot of strange faces in the group I was going with, I didn’t feel completely comfortable, but when traveling you have to go out of your comfort zone to witness amazing things. All of a sudden an announcement came on overhead, “Attention everybody boarding the Guatemala flight, the plane is having problems starting up. There will be an hour delay.” I listened to everyone trying to be positive about the situation. My optimism was…

What made it more exciting was, we just finished our first semester examinations. I couldn’t stop thinking of stepping to South Korea while doing the papers. As soon as school ended, we headed to Kuala Lumpur International Airport (KLIA) for departure. Around 12 midnight, MH0066 passengers were called for boarding. Nothing sounds so exciting at this very moment. The journey took six hours as we succeed in taking our beauty sleep in the flight. I’ve been thinking what to bring home as souvenirs since the money currency there is high.…

Apparently, this war broke out because political border between North and South Korea tensed and it deepened the division; the North established a communist government, while the South established a right-wing government. However, Kim Il-sung was determined to achieve reunification with the South Korea by force. The underlying reason is America and Russia were using it to fight without Hot War. By supporting South Korea, America tended to fight Communism without directly attacking Russia. For Russia, Stalin wanted to grow Communism through uniting the Korean Peninsula under communism.…
