I believe to lead people I must fully understand and accept myself first. For example, my weaknesses are: a situation that may alter my normal routine frightens me, I doubt myself and I contemplate if I am incapable to do a new task. I also know my strengths and I don’t let me fears stop me. Once I set my mind to a goal nothing stops until I have reached it, I am curious and I like to ask question to find in-depth information. As a leader I will help people overcome their flaws and guide them to focus and reinforce their strengths by sharing my earlier experiences. I understand we are humans and make mistakes, but as a leader I will not punish but reflect the situation with the employee and work together to learn from it and find a solution to prevent it from happening again because the way I see it mistakes are just an opportunity to learn. Also, I will praise when an employee does a task right or goes beyond their normal assignment since I know how it feels when managers notice my good work. Praising and recognizing is a skill I have learned and I will continue to practice and to implement it as a leader because I believe in leadership by positive reinforcement. My …show more content…
college courses have also prepared me to be a leader who works well with a group to get tasks done timely and efficiently.
My core values are honesty, open-minded, respectful, having ethics, being humble and optimistic thinking.
Over the years this six values have shaped the way I make decisions and treat others. I will be honest to myself and others no matter how difficult and painful it can be. To me honesty is the greatest way to build a healthy relationship and it contributes to a positive mindset. Optimistic thinking is one of my favorite core values because not every bad circumstances has to be a negative experience, all it takes is for me to alter my perception and I find a positive outlook. As a leader I will carry out my core values into the
workplace.
For the most part I reflect over my childhood, being an immigrant from Mexico, living in a dysfunctional family to having my parents go through therapy and after several years of change finally live in a healthy relationship with my family, it has giving me an insight that most people will never acquire. Therefore, as a leader I will be understanding, I will be respectful and I will take responsibility for my actions.
My leadership philosophy is not a final copy but it is an ongoing process that will be refined and altered based on new ideas and knowledge as I go through different stages of life.
