During the trip, I spent most of my time at an orphanage called Agua Viva in Antigua, Guatemala. The mission was to find God in my daily life, whether it was through the kids and my peers, or through the warm welcoming sense of community in Agua Viva. Our goal was to help improve their community by spending time with the kids and working on various projects for the orphanage. The children at the orphanage had a tremendous impact upon me because they were so incredibly happy with so little. Each child was given a single drawer for all of his or her personal belongings, such as clothes, shoes, and homework. Despite the language barrier, I was still able to form a unique bond with him. We sat together every day for each meal and communicated about his school day, his family, and even which girls he liked in the orphanage. I cherished all of my interactions with him. He felt like the younger brother that I had always wanted. By becoming close with Kevin, I learned what it means to me a mentor and provide guidance for a younger child in need. Although I only spent one week with him, I believe that I helped teach him lessons that will last a
