There are many people in my life who have had an influence on me. Though there are many, there is one particular person who has had the most influential impact in my life and that is my mother Debbie Lyn Garrido Cruz. I admire my mom for the kindness in her heart, her strength and independence, for pushing me to be different and to not be someone I’m not. She is the hard working mother of six, who has raised all of them on her own, trying and managing to get by on a day to day basis. My mother actually is just an ordinary woman but in her small figure lies an extraordinary fortitude, perseverance, an altruistic soul and a very kind heart. Whenever I want to give up my mom is always there letting me know that if I try my hardest at whatever I do I can and will succeeded at it. My mom has always done whatever she could to ensure that I had better opportunities in life including sending me out here to the mainland so that I could have a better education and to achieve the things I have planned for my life. I am very thankful for the decision she made because I know that I have greater opportunities in the place I am now. While I was growing up I made a lot of mistakes that I know disappointed my mom. I put her through things no child should ever let their mother go through. I have learned to listen to what my mother has to say because I know it is important to her that I learn from my mistakes as well as hers and do not make the same ones.
