My Mother In Law, By Patricia Festa

In this essay I will define good moral character and describe the reasons why I believe my mother in-law, Patricia Festa to be a person of good moral character. I believe a good moral person puts somebody else’s best interest in front of their own and that’s exactly what my mother in-law did. Even though she has passed on and I had only a year to the exact date of her passing with her, I strongly looked up and connected with her. She was one of the most amazing woman I have ever came across in my life and I try to live my life by her standards and morals. The book explains that a virtuous person has traits of being caring, compassionate, forgiving, merciful, respectful and considerate. (Williams & Arrigo, 2012, pg.189) Those are all moral
She even let me drive her car when I needed to go to class. She never once said she didn’t have the extra money or she couldn’t afford it. It was always what can I do to help you. Short after I had learned that this wasn’t the first time she had opened her doors to a complete stranger. She went through the good will and helped people who had nowhere to go by letting them sleep on her couches and feeding them. She made it easy for people to open up to her because you could feel the love that radiated off of her and her laugh, oh my god it was so contagious. She could flip any bad situation into the best thing that had ever happened to you and you’d believe her.
I even tested her moral character at one point by revealing to her that only after dating her son for four months that he and I were expecting a baby. After making sure I was mentally prepared and educated on what becoming a mom would be like for me, she opened the idea with open arms and accepted the fact that I was pregnant. She could have thrown me out, called me names and have been downright mean to me, but she tried to understand my views and opinions. She also helped me mend my relationship with my
