My Personal Essay!
How would I describe my identity? I’m a very kind, caring, and passionate person. I go to extremes to keep my friends and family happy. It’s what I enjoy doing. I think of my family before I think of myself. When I look around and see my family is happy, that makes me happy. It makes me feel empowered. It makes me feel good that I can positively influence someone else’s life in some way. Unfortunately, before my life-changing event, I cared only for myself and my family. Basically, only those close to me. At the time, I didn’t realize that outsiders were important as well. Until then, I never gave the golden rule any thought: “Treat others the way you want to be treated.” I felt that I shouldn’t care for those who didn’t care about me. Because of my parents, my outlook on life suddenly changed. My parents are very loving and caring people. All my life, I’ve watched them save lives and be the positive role models they’re supposed to be. I’ll start with my mother – who is the best nurse I’ve ever seen. What do nurses do? Nurses save lives and truly care for others. I’ve personally seen how many lives my mother has changed. She makes a huge difference. This is one of the factors that changed my character. I can tell her job is very rewarding. In the Bible, it says to love our enemies, family, and neighbor. This means we should treat everyone well, even if they don’t return the favor.
Now I want to describe an event that happened recently. Last year, I went on vacation to Nigeria with my family. On my father’s way home from sightseeing, he encountered a homeless man. This man had absolutely nothing. He had no money, his clothes were torn and stained, and he looked as though he were dying. I wouldn’t be surprised if he didn’t know where his next meal was going to come from. Seeing this man, my heart went out to him. It made me question why some people are so unlucky. My family and I decided to help this man. We happily – gave him the rest of the money we had left.

As we began handing out the bags, I was hesitant at first because I didn’t know how they would react. However, as I handed out my first goodie bag the homeless man’s instant reaction warmed my heart up. This was definitely an eye-opening experience for me, not only did it make more appreciative, but it also made me realize the struggles that many have to face. After being a part of this experience I realized I have the capability to offer so much more, in hopes that one day I can take this on a larger scale, internationally and help others in third world…

This book The Curious Incident of the Dog in the Night-Time gives the reader the smallest glimpse into Christopher Boone’s life. His parents often struggle living with an autistic child, and how others react to a child with a disorder. The distance between Christopher and his parents, the community, and the people remains vast. All of these things factor into the life of a child with Asperger’s. Others with this disorder are often thought of as "little professors who can 't understand social cues." This leaves a wide gap between people with autism and the rest of the world.…

I do not want to be a statistic. Today less than 3 percent of foster care children go to college. I was determined to beat the odds since the day I was born. I Tiffany Lynn LeBeau was born on May 28, 1996. I was born to my mother Wanda and to my father Joseph. I had two older siblings named Eric and Brandy. Sounds like the dream family right? We were far from perfect and a lot closer to a nightmare. My parents were drug addicts even before I was born. My mother preferred crack over any other drugs she could get her hands on. My father was an alcoholic and extremely abusive. I cant really remember much from my younger years but I still remember enough. As my parents slipped deeper into their own worlds of selfishness and addictions it became apparent that there was no turning back. My parents could not keep a stable job for more than 2 months at a time. We moved from house to house every year. I ended up living in 35 different houses by the age of 11. School wasn't my main priority but i still had this feeling of safety whenever i was there. School was my stability while my family swirled out of control. I remember the first time I was taken from my parents. Social Services was always involved in our lives but nothing had happened till I was 4. That day was unforgettable. My hand pressed against the cop cars window as I yell for my mother and father to help me. My knees shook from the terror I felt inside. My brother tried to comfort me but his soothing words and gentle hands but could not ease the pain I felt inside. We were then taken to a “new” home, where we stayed until our parents got “better”. The reason this memory always sticks out to me is because it happened over and over again. The only difference was that there were new places and new people each time. This continued for years and years. I would be beaten by my dad weekly, and yelled at by mother daily. At some point in time I guess…
