My Personal Mission Statement
MY PERSONAL MISSION STATEMENT
Ynah Patricia Tolentino Jaring

“Don’t let the fear of striking out keep you from playing the game.” You shouldn't be afraid of failing at the task in front of you. You should do it, maybe for the experience or maybe for a reason. Don't let anyone stop you from doing what you want and don't let anything keep you away from reaching your goal.
Ynah Patricia Tolentino Jaring, that’s me! I am eighteen years old and I am raised by the world’s most wonderful and awesome parents, Willy and Neth. I have an older sister named Kaye and we grew up in a home filled with unconditional love. Growing up, they taught me to be a God-fearing person hence everything else followed. I am a loving daughter, sister, friend and I value my family the most. I really want to be a successful Preschool teacher and I dream of putting up my own preschool someday. I am currently in the process of polishing that craft for I know that preschool teachers are not only mentors but God’s instruments to establish values for children as they begin to come out of their shells.
As what I stated above, I value my family the most and that includes God. God is our source of strength, our fuel that’s why we live for each day. My family is the pillar of my good morals and the reason why I soar for new dreams and continue reaching for old ones. I came from a family who values education so much. We believe that being educated is something no one can take away from you. I am proud being raised by the family I have, though not perfect, we are very prayerful which I believe makes a big difference.
I want to be a preschool teacher. I am a kid at heart and I really have a soft spot for children. I want them to learn not only academically but spiritually as well. I believe that it is already an achievement whenever I’d see my past preschoolers succeed in their lives, being professionals in their chosen fields and contributing citizens in the society. Lastly, I can attest that when I finally achieve my dreams, I can somehow payoff to my parents’ love and sacrifices for I know that seeing me happy and successful is their greatest aspiration for me.

My career goal is to be a qualified early childhood education teacher. I chose this career path because I have always had an interest in children, and the way they develop: physically, intellectually, socially and emotionally, while being in an intimate multicultural environment. My professional goal is to become a teacher with hard work and dedication I know I can reach my lifetime goal. For my extra-curricular activities, I have attended the Head Start at Brookhaven Community College where I have volunteered over thirty hours in a semester to get myself prepared for the profession. Going to the local Head Start gave me the opportunity to see if this is really what I want to do for many years. I put myself in a position where I actually enjoyed what I was doing, I had patience which a lot of people don’t have to teach younger kids. I worked with three to five years old, I had to show them I was the leader. In my four years of High School, I have taken my time out to be a leader in my school. I was vice-president freshman…

I attended Ketchum High School in Ketchum, Oklahoma. My school’s mission statement was: “Educating all students in a safe, positive environment through rigorous standards to develop productive members of society. Through accountability, collaboration, continuous improvement, data driven decisions, equity, high expectations, and integrity.” One example of my school’s athletic department supporting this statement is through accountability. My basketball coach would find out each of his players’ schedules and have a meeting every two weeks with their teachers. He would access their grades and their behavior throughout class, and would either congratulate you or punish you depending on the answer he was given. Another example of supporting this…

As my son was finishing up his PreK program the teachers announced their retirement. I quickly knew this was my opportunity to live out my dream of being a preschool teacher. As part of my CDA requirements I needed to spend time in a classroom so I began volunteering in my daughters PreK class. I enjoyed being encouraged to be creative and playful in daily activities and have a substantial input in the classroom curriculum and schedule. I really liked using games, storytelling, and other activities to help children develop language and vocabulary, improve social skills, and learn basic science and math concepts. The highlights of my days volunteering was when I saw a child’s eyes light up when they learn/try something new. When they suddenly were able to make the letters in their name, or do something they weren’t previously able to do, I got as excited as they did. When the children were lined up waiting to come into class, and then run in and give me a hug, it warmed my…

Having attended a Catholic High School, while not being Catholic has opened many doors for me. I got to experience another religion, while learning about its origins, beliefs, and contributions to the world. Growing up in a Sikh family, I had always been taught to respect human life, work hard, give back, and remember God; a lot of these same aspects were reiterated in school, engraining them in my everyday life. One of the main concepts I took away from my high school was the concept of education hearts and minds, which in my mind resonates highly with the mission of Pepperdine. The main aspect behind educating hearts and minds is that while education in the purest sense is very important, equally important is how we go…

The American Dream was once based on the same principles of The Declaration of Independence, like freedom and equality. That all men deserve “..life, liberty, and the pursuit of happiness..” (Revolution) Over time, the dream became more materialized and narcissistic. For some, it promised a journey of milestones and accomplishments. But for others, obstacles in the way were too much of a struggle. Azar Nafisi once said, “The negative side of The American Dream comes when people pursue success at any cost, which in turn destroys the vision and the dream.”…

Some kids play sports in high school. Others are in the band, take roles in theater, or members of the debate team. Myself, I did not so any of those things, because, since middle school, my life has been fully devoted to practicing my passion for agriculture and preparing for an eventual career in the industry. I never had time for orchestra rehearsals or scrimmages, I was either out in the barn or in the pens in the field, or at plant ID practice, livestock judging workouts, or chapter meetings instead. These things even took the place of milestones such as prom and homecoming dances for me in middle/high school, but, it was completely fine to me, because, I knew my hard work would soon pay off as soon as…

My personal mission statement is to be the best that I can be and work hard to help others be the best they can be. This statement is important to me because I have always found that I am at my best when I am helping people, whether its helping people at my job or at the grocery store. There are many things that fall into place with that, which to me, mainly includes education, because I am a student and I work in a college where I work with students and I listen to their problems and relate to them. So education is very important in general, but to me Community and Industry Education is very important and important to a lot of people.
