What I learned from the article is that there is clarity of vocational preference with students who did not have practicum experience. However, there is not a difference between those who did and did not have practicum experience in the areas of career commitment, self-efficacy, and job attainment. Based upon my current practicum experience, I feel personally feel like my career commitment remained the same as to when I first started my practicum. However, I feel like if it's something a person really has a passion for and really wants to do, then they will be committed to doing whatever it is no matter how their practicum experience is or was. In my opinion, I feel like the students should had practicum experience and non-practicum experience to determine if it was helpful or not. I do not feel as though the research conducted is enough to determine the impact on a practicum. Overall, I feel like this article is one that many people can agree with and benefit from at the same time. It helped me realize the purpose of a practicum and how it is supposed to be helpful.
