My Pratiuum: The Importance Of Comprehensive Assessments
My pratiuum is going well I thought I would be overwhelmed with all the n new inforhmation however my supervisor is very good in explaning and making sure we learn the process thoruoghly before we move onto the learn.ing assisgment. I have been completing comprehensive assessments which take time and help in diagnosis clients. According to Craddock & Mynors (2013) a comprehensive assessment includes medical, physical and psycho social conditions and needs which help to formulate a diagnosis. Furthermore when completing a diagnosis it important to think beyond diagnosis an make an assessment of causation and not rely on the simply facts (Craddock, & Mynors, 2013). I’m learning when taking a good comprehensive assessment it can help formulate
a well developed treatment plan (Craddock & Mynors, 2013) In addition, I have learned how to observe people physical reactions and symptoms. At first I thought we were going to slow however I’m grateful for the in depth teaching first and learning the paperwork process which is extensive. State contracted agencies require so much information and data from clients assessments a comprehensive assessment takes up to two hours. I’m also working with a woman who has Fragile X syndrome who is very difficult in the program however we are trying to teach her social behaviors that would allow her to stay in the program. Fragile X syndrome have features of autism spectrum disorders that affect communication and social interaction and causes a range of developmental problems including learning disabilities and cognitive impairment(Bagni, & Oostra, 2013). Although,this has been very challenging I’m up for the challenge.
One situation which I thought went well was while completing an assessment the clients appeared disheveled and distracted and was very limited in her response. I decided to complete safety assessment and the client was currently suicidal with a plan the ambulance was called and she was taken to the hospital. It’s important when as
