My Special Place Analysis
Winter is undeniably my favorite season of the year. As a child, I would sit by the window with my nose pressed against the glass,

hypnotized by the meandering path of the falling snowflakes. I loved how my world took on a whole new look in its sparkling white

blanket. Some memories evoke a warm nostalgia and mine include the snowy afternoons spent at the nearby sledding hill. I

remember dragging my sled up the snow-covered hill over and over again in order to race down as fast as I could. The trip down

the hill was breathless and exhilarating, but my memory of the climb itself is what remains with me most to this day. The hill was

steep, my sled was heavy, and with each repetition my arms and legs felt more like lead. But with great effort

As I jumped onto my sled to ride down, I felt invigorated, somehow a bigger person with a greater mission.

The infusion of meaning and purpose afforded by hard-earned success is that much more exhilarating for me when another

person's benefit is the goal. This is because the satisfaction of surmounting a difficulty is compounded by the joy of having

improved someone else's life on an individual level, thereby making the world a better place.

One place that I've experienced this sense of purpose is Camp Nageela. Camp Nageela is a charity funded camp designed to

provide a warm, accepting environment for children from underprivileged backgrounds who are all alike in their universal need

for love and attention. I have volunteered there for over three years. This past summer, I got to know a sweet young girl named

Samalie. During the second week of camp, Samalie ended up in the camp infirmary after her symptoms of vomiting, dizziness,

and lower abdominal pain persisted for several days. Her instructions were to keep away from other campers in order to prevent

contagion.

While I distributed medications in the infirmary one night, hushed sniffling came from one of the beds. I saw Samalie's twelve

Every patient is a sensitive individual who needs to feel nurtured, supported, and

cared for. When it comes to the field of medicine, it is essential to complement medical knowledge and skills with the compassion

and communication that catalyze recovery. As a PA, I will take advantage of the opportunity to grow in my medical knowledge

and holistically treat patients with the love and dignity they deserve. I will use my natural interpersonal charisma and humanistic

perspective to be mindful of patients' needs so that they are both comfortable in their environment and empowered to make

informed choices about their healthcare. Moreover, my warm and easygoing nature will enable me to collaborate with a team of

healthcare providers.

I anticipate that as a PA, my contribution to the medical community will be with a sense of purpose and drive. In this capacity, I will

have the opportunity to use my talents and abilities to heal bodies and touch lives. I am an individual who can withstand any WHAT

as long as I have a WHY to propel me. I therefore know I will embrace the rigors of both schoolwork and everyday life as a PA

when I contemplate the fulfillment and purpose they

On my ongoing hospital volunteering placement at King's College Hospital, I have recognised the value of a good bedside manner simply by befriending patients and providing a listening ear, at feeding and reading time. Medicine may have advanced scientifically, but a caring attitude will always play a major role in helping a patient get better, hence why I interpret it as more of more of an art. By being a ward volunteer at King's College Hospital has made me realise how rewarding medicine is. It certainly tests my empathetic integrity every week preparing me for the stark realities of medicine.…

The walls, the chairs, and the floors of the long hallway we were walking down were all the same shade of spotless white. It was so incredibly cold that despite my thick jacket and boots I had on, I was positively freezing.…

    A Place Analysis

I was raised in a small, but familiar town on the outskirts of Tallahassee known as Havana. A place where everyone practically knows everyone that lives there. My hometown upholds a sense of charm and southern hospitably in the atmosphere, with the many boutiques and restaurants for one to enjoy. However, I feel that it is a place where more mature individuals could appreciate (like adults), due to its historical nature. To be honest, other than going to school with my friends, as a child there really wasn’t much for me to do when the summer rolled in. Especially, since I was the only girl in a house with two brothers. In fact, majority of my summer vacation was spent at home, with my annoying brothers, “The Terrible Two”. Well, at least that’s what I called them, because they were always finding a way to make fun out of torturing me. From being hit by water balloons unexpectedly, to waking with burning lips from the hot sauce they put on them while I was sleeping, pretty much describes the “summer” moments of my childhood; at least the ones spent with brothers. Until, I suddenly had an epiphany, and begged my mother to let me stay with my grandmother while I school wasn’t in; or at least until she made it home from work. Of course she asked why; although she knew how much my brothers would tease me. She just told me it was there way of showing “brotherly” love, but she understood how annoying it could be, because she too was raised among all boys; in which worked out in my favor, because I no longer spent the summer’s home. She accepted my plea to be free from the “Terrible Two,” and Grandma’s house was to be my new location for summer vacation, which I enjoyed every bit of.…

I may have been to young to remember but I can only imagine what I thought when my dad strapped two boards on my feet and sent me on my way. I might sound like a cheesy five year old saying that but I do mean it.…

We had about a half hour drive to the rental shop for my dad and I to get rental skis. My sister already had skis because she races for the school Nordic team. Once we had gotten our skis, we started driving to the trailhead and my dad and I slowly began to re-think ourselves. We got to the trailhead, put on our skis, and after about 20 minutes of skiing around what we thought was a short loop, we got a bit concerned. We knew that…

When Winter comes around I'm exited. I love to go to bed cuddled in blanket after blanket. Not like in summer where you try to get blanket after blanket off of you. I like to go out side and feel the comfort of the cold wrap around me. I love dressing in layers, and I can't do that in summer. I love the way the day turns into night so much quicker, I never have been a fan of the sun. I love the coldness of winter, how my nose and cheeks turn red when I'm walking. I seriously think I want to move to Alaska....…
