My Stereotypes
I first found out I was different in about 4th grade, when people were always following the stars of the classroom. Not because they were intelligent or something (not to say they weren’t completely dumb), but just because they were supposedly what you call “cool”. And trust me, I have fallen victim before, I have just come to my senses and gotten back up before others.

These praised idols are incredibly influencing. They have this way of charming people and then putting them in chains like dogs without them even realizing. And I do realize I am a complicated person, but I think this is because I realize and notice things that other people don’t. Which is probably one of the reasons I don’t hang out and socialize with people much, because I see no interest in communicating with fake people. So as a result, leaving me to be that strange loner. Not that I think it is a problem, I am quite fine by myself, I do believe. I also think it is actually very amusing when people expect you to go along with them and you don’t, it’s almost as if they’ve never been opposed. It’s truly sad because it’s people who act like that, that never really achieve anything.

But as Socrates said “Some people put walls up not to keep people out, but to see who cares enough to knock them down.” I think if the person is not even willing to get to know you, they won’t ever really become your friend. I mean there is no point in trying to keep someone who doesn't care if they lose you. And I have tried to befriend people but, we talk, we laugh, and then it collapses. Why does it collapse? They start to follow the example of others, they hang with the apparently cool kids and then they are too busy with them or they think that they are too cool for you. Which leaves me to think some people expect to receive something from

The movie Edward Scissorhands emphasises how hard it is for a person out of the norm to actually be accepted by society. People judge others by their appearance before getting to know a person. When seeing someone or something to new, some sort of comment or reaction will come into a persons’ mind; whether it be good, bad, or just simply a thought. Many times if a negative impression is given off by a person that you are not well acquainted with, automatically you will feel a sense of disconnection towards that person; leaving the mentality that the other person is different and you do not want to accept their differences.…

When people get ideas into their heads about who is popular and higher in social standing depending upon something they do or have, if enough people have the same idea soon enough everyone else starts to believe the idea and it takes flight like the geese in winter. Thoreau talks about fashion and one of his quotes roughly says that if some one person with high standing starts a trend soon after everyone else follows along. I agree that this happens a lot, but I feel that not every one has to feel like they need to do certain specific things to fit and that it's ok to be themselves and do what they want, and not because some one told them they have to in order to be or get what they…

How have the values and ideas of America’s colonial past made possible our country’s present? People in the United States today do not take in consideration the impact of colonial ideas. However the journey from slavery, women rights, and the balance of power in government help determine the aspects of modern day society. Therefore, colonial society helped develop a structure of present day America.…

Peter Ustinov once said, “In America, through pressure of conformity, there is freedom of choice, but nothing to choose from.” This is unbelievably true as much as we try not to admit it. Society has made it where we really don’t have a choice when it comes to certain things if we want to be “normal” and liked. Although we might say we would act differently than everyone else in a hypothetical situation, when it comes down to it, we would more than likely just follow along with the behavior of everyone else. This is just whom we are as individuals- how we are wired. We don’t want to risk standing out and being ridiculed or singled out. Sure, we want to be unique and remembered,…

What were your perceptions of playing sport when you were younger?’ When I was younger, I typically played spot because I was younger, and I valued interaction with friends. Sport was a fun aspect of childhood, which both others and I found enjoyable and it became a chance to be with my friends, in what was then though to be a somewhat competitive environment, although it was truly not. I began to sport more seriously, when I began to play for a club, and winning started to matter, as although its focus remained on friendships and fun, its basis prepared both my teammates and myself for the growing competitive nature of sport as a teenager and adult.…
