When I took the values assessment, I was to determine what my values were. From the results, support, relationships, and achievement were my top values. Having support is very important in my academic path. I tend to put a lot on my plate and think I’m not doing enough. Having professors and advisors checking on me and letting me know if I’m doing enough gives me a sense of relief. In the work place all three values are important to me. Having a support system and relationships at work go hand in hand. Having people there to help and talk to me are needed for me to succeed in my career in nursing. As a nurse I want to be able to have the support and relationship with others nurse so we can all help each other. Being a nurse can be overwhelming if I am trying to do everything on my own, and not reaching out to anyone to get help or talk to. Without these values I will feel lonely and feel like I can’t count on anyone. Achievement is another value important to me. My strengths are achiever, input, and learner. Being an achiever is what keeps me going in life. Ever since I was young, I decided I didn’t want to be like my family. My family was never able to complete anything in life, so I decided I would complete everything they weren’t able to. Since then, once I decide to do something, I make I get it done. Whenever I complete something, I feel a sense of achievement. That feeling that I get is what keeps me going in life. Because one of my strengths is achievement, I try to help others to reach their full potential. My second strength is input. Input is part of who I am. I am constantly always looking for ways to add to my knowledge. I am always curious about something. Once I find something curious, I feel I need to know more until my mind is satisfied. This will help me in nursing in educating my patients on how to better take care of themselves and having a base knowledge on any of their questions. My third strength is leaner. As a learner, I am able to find what learning strategy works best for me. I like learning with people and at times by just reading. Being a learner, I am also intrigued by a variety of subjects. I am always eager to learn to something new as well as, I like to teach what I know to others. Having input and learning as my strengths, will help me in my career to know how to keep learning to take care of my patients in various ways. These strengths
