I'm strong in these areas because I'm a naturally competitive person and find the need to compete with myself to do better then how I did before. My school engagement is because I have a natural interest and enthusiasm for learning new topics. Reading is a strength because it helps me understand people better, it allows me to look into the world and mind of someone new and get and understanding of why they are doing what they are doing. For our third week of clinical, my group and I presented on the topics of heart attack stroke, and heart disease at DOF. As a group, we were able to inform the group of men, with information that they would be able to think about and remember as they continue on with their lives. After DOF, we headed to Goodwill. As we spent time with the clients at Goodwill, I hanged out at one of the tables, where I spent some time looking at semi-truck photos with a client. It was nice spending some time with the client and getting to see the kind of photography he likes. The last part of clinical took place at Heartland Senior Center. At Heartland, we had the chance to complete assessments on two clients and practice writing progress notes. The clinical day was a success as I learned new things, had fun at Goodwill, and practiced my assessment skills.…
Self motivated, industrious, dedicated, determine and God fearing individual are attributes that reflects my own characteristics. My religious background began in the Church of God in Christ where the Old Testament was the primary teachings that shaped my life’s values and forms. This personal reflection encompasses several areas of my past and current life. The elements of discussion include early influences for engagement in a doctoral program, level of preparedness and current higher education position, anticipated outcomes of the program, and life beyond the PhD and advanced studies.…

If I had a personal practice, there are several ways that I could incorporate the practices described in Awareness of Self – A Critical Tool from Esther Urdang. First I would embrace the trio of knowledge, compassion, and authority. These aspects are a critical tool in building rapport and a bond with the client. The article informs the reader of the stresses that are associated with the human services field. This provides a self-reflection and the intricacies that surround personal and client related issues. When I began my journey at CSUN, I had no idea what my college professors were going to expect from me as a student. I remember not having the necessary skills to write a well-written research paper. One of the classes that caused an impact in my research skills was my religious studies class. The professor required a great amount of writing and reading throughout the course. For the midterm paper he required his students to write 15-page research paper were we had to analyze a movie based on the religious beliefs we had study throughout the semester.…
The verbal and non-verbal speaking anxiety signs I noticed in myself was that I kept fidgeting, and touching my hair or face. I felt the rate of my speaking was too fast and I was stuttering. Do not overthink any speech or presentation or try to impress my audience.…
