How To Write A Self Reflection Paper
When I began my journey at CSUN, I had no idea what my college professors were going to expect from me as a student. I remember not having the necessary skills to write a well-written research paper. One of the classes that caused an impact in my research skills was my religious studies class. The professor required a great amount of writing and reading throughout the course. For the midterm paper he required his students to write 15-page research paper were we had to analyze a movie based on the religious beliefs we had study throughout the semester. Furthermore, writing this analysis required a lot of my time and effort; therefore, causing me to feel stressed and worried. I had not idea how to write a research paper because I was never thought to do so in high school. Also, it was my first semester at CSUN and I was barely adjusting myself to the work I was expected to do at a university level. I strongly believe this has been one of the most challenging courses I have taken at CSUN. This …show more content…
I would ask the student to write an outline of the possible resources that they are confident they are attainable and manageable to reach. For instance, the student will be able to write in his/her outline that speaking to the professor directly might help one understand what the professor is expecting the analysis to be composed of. Perhaps, the student may also attend to some of the English workshops CSUN offers in the tutoring lab. In this way, the student will able to feel confident that he/she is writing a college level research paper. However, the student might feel a little distress because of the lack of experience he/she has gained in their writing skills. It will be important to discuss some of the non-academic activities he/she may do to lower their anxiety or

At the beginning of the course we wrote a personal profile, where we introduced ourselves to our classmates and instructor, in it we included some things like the place where we were raised, important influences in our lives, and our dream job. As well, we introduced a topic that we would be interested in structuring and writing an argumentative paper about, I chose the Dakota access pipeline. It was a controversial topic throughout the world and it drew my interest to intellectually challenge the opposing side, along with several other popular debate topics. Unfortunately, I procrastinated throughout the entire course, because writing has never been my strongest suite. I did that because I over thought every single assignment because I was never certain if I was on the right track. Afterwards, we did a “Says Does Analysis” assignment, we had the opportunity to choose an article from the New York Times editorial. We had to determine what the author was trying to do and say, when writing his or her article. Doing this assignment, helped me evaluate my writing more in-depth, and expand upon what I was discussing.…

In Joseph M. Williams and Lawrence McEnerney’s Writing in College, Williams and McEnerney discuss the shift from high school writing to college writing where argument, interpretation of expectations, and learning how to make a “good” point in a paper are key to successfully satisfying the instructor’s assignment. Arguments should be convincing, with evidence to support their reasons, and to have counters answering objections and other questions that may go against its favor. Williams and McEnerney write, “-universities hold as their highest value not just the pursuit of new knowledge and better understanding, but the sharing of that knowledge…whatever it is we think, it is never the entire truth. Our conclusions are partial, incomplete, and…

At the beginning of the year it felt like I would have never been able to write any paper that was more than two pages long, it just seemed impossible, but for the research paper I actually had to stop myself from going off and writing a twelve page paper. I will admit and say that English is not my strong suit, in fact it is probably one of my more difficult classes. But just because it is difficult does not mean I don’t like it. I like looking for topics that interest me and still fit in with the guidelines, I like getting involved in the paper and researching the topic until it feels like my head is about to explode. I never saw any of that coming, I thought that I was going to have to go through English and just pray…

During this semester our class had to write three major essays, which are: Rhetorical Analysis (RA), Discipline Investigation (DI), and Critical Reading Reflection (CRR). The Rhetorical Analysis paper is based on how “to develop your understanding of rhetoric by investigating how a writer constructed a professional document or text in your major field.” It is also “to practice analytical thinking and clear writing. Basically, I had to research a professional document that is in the field that I want to succeed in my future career. I had to analysis what the rhetorical strategies and appeals are and explain it. The Discipline Investigation paper is based on “to investigate a discourse community you hope to join and to learn about the kinds of text that community uses.” Before I started this paper, I researched about the job position I would be interested in the future and set up interviews with general managers from hotels. I asked questions to get more outside knowledge and get to know how the job works personally. The Critical Reading Reflection is based on the book we read which is, The Mind at Work and personal experiences with work. My first best essay is the Discipline Investigation, then the second best is Rhetorical Analysis, then the third best is Critical Reading Reflection.…

First of all, while watching their semester long journey through this writing course, I learned a few pointers and lessons. Throughout this video I noticed that some of the students procrastinated on their papers. Arpan for example would go for strolls around campus, hang out with friends and even play video games when he should have been drafting or finalizing his papers. I learned from his mistakes and realized that procrastination is not an option. You need to use the time to fabricate ideas, outline, revise and finalize assignments to produce the best paper possible. Whenever Nneka was given an assignment, she would regularly develop and continue to revise drafts that would be examined by her professor. All that extra work paid off when she received a satisfactory grade due to the fact that she put in the effort.…

I believe I worked on your floor last semester because I recall such a change being discussed. I did not realize the hospital is interested in changing vital signs time for the entire hospital! I can see how moving the time to 0600 would delay the night PCTs from finishing their work and the day nurses from starting their shift. Collecting vitals and blood sugars while managing meal times and shift change sounds like a time-consuming task. However, I can see this as a potentially effective change since the day nurses would receive the most recent vitals and updates about their patients. I am curious about how long the hospital plans for to test the change on the unit. Perhaps over time the unit would adjust to the change? It appears fortunate…

Since I am a sluggish writer who “has to” complete everything in the last minute before the deadline, writing a twenty-pages research paper is tons of work for me. It is also very challenging for me to organize various sentences and ideas together to demonstrate my arguments. I also have some frequent problems with word choice and prepositions. Other times my instructors would think the…

My high school required every senior to write a ten to a fifteen-page research paper on an issue or crisis that you were interested in and in order to graduate you would have to get a passing grade. For the research paper, you had to pick a topic that you were passionate about and one that you are willing to work on your whole senior year. The research paper would include everything you learned about while researching, your activism, what you did to solve the issue and lastly, why you chose the topic and how it changed you as a person. My writing would determine whether I graduated. I had worked hard for four years and I did not want a fifteen-page paper to set me back. This was not just a research paper, it was also my senior activism project…

Kobe Bryant, one of the greatest basketball players ever, once said, “These young guys are playing checkers. I’m out there playing chess.” Like many of Kobe’s adversaries, I too felt like I was playing checkers. In school, much like in basketball, there are people who have mastered the game. These are the students that do not panic when given a writing assignment or research paper. However, I am not one of these students. When given the assignment to write a research paper, my body fills with fear and anxiety. This is what happened when I was given my first research paper at Hofstra, but something was different. When the professor finished explaining the dreaded assignment, a man introduced himself. Unannounced to me, this man would change the fearful way I viewed research papers.…

I am a UK citizen and I have been in the UK for approximately 2 and a half years. English is my second language and I lived in Zimbabwe until the age of 16. The community that I used to live in was full of corruption and I witnessed the injustice that was being done. People with dimentia are said to be witch crafted and be left alone without being cared for. here, there is an opportunity and a chance to take care of those people and help them with my understanding. From about the age of 13, I was able to analyse these situations and start to consider ways in which these situations could be improved. This has given me the drive to work towards being part of the healthcare community to ensure that everyone that requires the support of health…
