My Worst Day of School
My worst day of school was my freshman year. I had the worst day of school in the beginning of the year, September, to be exact. It wasn’t the first day of school but it was close. It started of as most terrible days of school start, missing the bus. It wasn’t that I just missed my bus it was that I was wearing wrinkled clothes and my hair was all messed up also.

When I actually got into the building, the one good thing happened to me, I found a five dollar bill on the floor. But that luck wouldn’t last long, I had lunch fourth period and at the end of my table there was a bunch of jerky seniors. These kids always seemed to ruin my day. They had knocked over some cranberry juice all over my wrinkled white shirt, but that wasn’t the worst of it, I didn’t have a shirt to change into after the incident. Of course, it doesn’t stop there, at ninth period, I had gym class and I didn’t have a change of clothes, so I had to wear the terribly wrinkled and stained shirt. When I got home I had loads of homework that had to be done right away because later that night my mother wanted me to watch a crappy movie on oxygen with her. These movies are of course directed toward women and try as hard as they can to make you cry. So my worst day of school ended with my mother crying over the old woman who never had loved anyone but the man she had just lost to

I dreaded the alarm that woke me up at 6:30 in the morning. It was as loud as a screaming toddler that could be heard for miles. I groggily got out of bed and got ready for my first day of school. It was a weird feeling not putting on a uniform like I had been for the past nine years, but I also enjoyed that freedom. The nervousness became more and more intense as I could closer and closer to campus. When we arrived, I got out of the car, and watched my dad drive off to go take my younger sister to school. There was no going back now; I had no other choice than to walk through those doors. I felt like my throat was in my stomach. I noticed some familiar faces, and I walked towards them. While I was approaching my friends, a senior, facing toward me, walked passed. He must have been at least six feet tall, which was incredibly intimidating for me at just over five feet. I was not used to the fact that I’d potentially have classes with these giants. Additionally, the array of new teachers, and having to learn all of their teaching styles and things they did or did not tolerate was hard in…

It was two in the morning. I got out of bed, running on three hours of sleep. I ran downstairs after getting ready for a long bus ride. I saw my mom and grandpa waiting downstairs, as my grandpa was going on the trip with me. When at the school, teachers checked our bags, kind of like the airport. After this check, we were off (well, about an hour later). Now it was off on our new home for the next 12 hours. For the first three hours, everyone slept. It was boring and I will skip that. We then pulled over for our breakfast stop. When we stopped, the teachers passed out our boxes of bagels. We proceeded to get back on the road next, which was a rather long time. About four hours of driving through Ohio farms and Pennsylvania hills,…

2nd grade arrived, still mad at my parents for making us move, we (my mom, dad, and two sisters) were living with my aunt and her family. That’s not the healthiest environment for a & year old to grow up in, two older cousins, and two older sisters. I was tortured. I had to listen to every bad word in the book all day long every day for a whole year. I guess that’s okay though because I think I turned out pretty good!…

I headed to my first class which just so happened to be my favorite subject, English. The hallways were very wide but when filled with students I felt like I had to shove my way through just to get to my locker. The lockers were a mixture between Gray and purple. The school colors were supposed to be purple and silver but there was no way that these lockers could be considered. I took a look at the little piece of paper that the lady in the office had given me and tried out the combination on my locker. It took me about five minutes to open it and after struggling for that long I was a little irritated so when it did open, it flew open and slammed into the locker next to mine. I held my breath and hoped that nobody had noticed. I took a long deep breath and slowly opened my eyes again. Luckily I was still standing alone and nobody around was looking at me. I put my extra books and notebooks into the locker and and closed it as quietly as I could.…

It started out like any other day. I got out of bed and scrambled to get out the door after I took an extra hour in the shower. I hopped into a seat next to my best friend Erin. We talked for the ten minute ride before finally arriving at school. I sat down in homeroom waiting for the bell to ring. Brrriinnngggg! I rushed to Mrs. Gregory’s room for Lit. Everything was fine until gym class. I had forgotten my assignment notebook in Mrs. Saphir’s room so I ran back upstairs to get it from under my chair. As I started to walk back towards the locker room I heard the bell ring… late! I walked into the locker room hoping Mrs. Dennis wouldn’t notice my tardiness, but my locker is right next to her office. I quickly filled out a minor for before…

Through all of the chaos, we made it to our stop, which happened to be the gym. We were all ushered into the bleachers so we could get briefed on our next 3 years in middle school. We all gladly took our seats and let the show begin. It was all a blur of boring and useless information. Now I wished I had listened to what they said, but oh well. When it was over we were removed from the gym and were told to go to our first core class. Getting there was very difficult. The rest of the day was filled with teachers telling us their expectations for the rest of the year, as well as boring information about…

It was a typical first day of school. Rushing to get ready, finding the perfect outfit, cliche first-day-of-school pictures. When I got to school, everything was normal. Life was good. But, in a weird class I had called “Creative Learning”, we were given an assignment. It wasn’t a normal assignment. We had to write a horror story, and we were…

As that bell went off I thought to myself, Finally I can leave this class of ignorant children who are all just self –centered and fake. I collected my books together and placed my binder away in my backpack, I was the last to leave that damn classroom so I decided to politely say goodbye to my teacher, since good manners always give you a good look to the teacher. I walked out and felt the warm air on my skin; damn I thought to myself this is winter for Christ sakes! Why is it so hot? Well that’s what happens when you live in the sweet state of Southern California. I walked alone to my locker like I always do always keeping my head down for some reason. I don’t look up a lot when I’m alone for some reason usually just…

It was a week into my senior year in Ganesha High School. Walking into my third period AVID class, right after our 10 minute nutrition break, everybody, rowdy and noisy, talked about what they had done that weekend or what they had seen at break. As usual I walked towards my seat and as usual it was a task. My school bag was hanging on my side and I had my breakfast box that was filled with a milk carton, an apple, and a packaged bread in my hand; I walked and tried not to trip over the carelessly left bags on the isle. People stood up even after the bell had rung and the noise level was still high. I finally got to my seat; first row, first seat, right next to the teacher’s desk in which he had his computer. I put my bag down on the floor and put my breakfast box on top of my desk. The teacher, Mr. Mariles, came in and everybody took their seat, the noise level lowered distinctively. I turned over to face my friend who was sitting behind me. I whispered to her “Do you know what we’re doing in class today?” she whispered back “I think we are working on our personal statement.” I turned to face the front of the class, with a disgusted expression on my face. The teacher then started to explain what we were going to do that day. He had a smile in his face and was making hand movements all over the…

The alarm clock went “ding….ding… ding.” I woke pretending I couldn’t hear it, because I didn’t want to get up. My mom was yelling at my sister and me, “Get up girls it’s time to go school.” I didn’t understand why she was so excited. I miserably dragged myself out of bed; I just wanted to crawl and hide and the blanket. It was a cold day in March 1999, I was fourteen years old, and it was my first day of school in America.…

Now that my parents had begun working it was time for me to begin my junior year in high school. I will never forget my first day of school, December 31.2001 when I attended Lawrence High School. The school had me take a placement test and the results showed that I would have to take an ESL (English as a second language) class. All those English lessons that I took back in Brazil had been a waste of my time. My advisor gave me a schedule with the list of courses I had to attend which the list itself seemed like a course I had to take in order to understand it all. My English wasn't sufficient enough to ask for assistance. No one talked to me that day. I felt left out because of my inability to communicate. Some students assumed that I did not understand them at all so, they made rude remarks about me. I understood them maybe not completely, but I knew the intent of their messages. That day I ate lunch by myself, in the bathroom, and I stayed there until my lunch period was over. I was without a friend in the world, like I was an alien who had just landed on planet Earth. That day really hit me on how much I missed Brazil. I thought to myself, 'I should be at home, with my friends talking and laughing.' As soon as I arrive home I went to bed and cried myself to sleep. The thought of going back to school the following day brought shivers down my spine. I didn't want to see tomorrow because I did not want to go back to…

Well, all this happened a few years ago, when I was studying Interior Design in one of the most recognized school in Puerto Rico. I had these unique teacher/professor/principal, that was the most arrogant and selfish person I ever meet. He was (maybe he still) so disrespectful with everyone including me. I’m not the kind of person that shuts up to receive a disrespectful commentary about my person or my work when I know that I did my best to impress.…

It started as any other Saturday would-, get up early with the kids, eat breakfast, do laundry and clean the house. The phone rang at about ten and it was my mother, who at that time lived in West Virginia. Normally it would be the normal small talk since, on any given day, I would talk to my mom at least twice, so her calling that early wasn’t out of the “norm”. This time stated a little differently, instead of her starting a conversation with me, she asked for my husband. As I handed the phone to him, I was eaves dropping on the conversation they were having, I knew by the look on his face there was something wrong. He hung up the phone and all he said was, “It’s your dad; we need to pack up the kids and get down there as soon as we can.”…
