Back then when I was in my school, my writing teacher way of teaching me is very conventional. Every day, in class, whenever we are doing our writing class, the teacher will simply gives us a topic to write on. Before we start on writing, the students will be given chance to brainstorm on the idea, then, show it to teacher, if the teacher did not like the idea, we will have to change it and we will have to show it again to the teacher until she find it rational. After that, we will given some time finish the writing before sending it to the teacher. The teacher then will check the essay and give it back to us to be compared and discussed.
2. What do I feel about my writing class?
Back then
in school, since we are used to the way of teaching in writing class, for us, that is just the way it is done. I personally feel that, it is not only stressful, since we are given limited time to write, but, in term of the idea in the essay, it is more to what teacher want, instead of what we want to say. If the teacher thinks that it is not rational to him or her, she will reject them, and we will have to come with idea that suit to their taste, this will only bound ourselves from writing our idea freely and to be as creative as we want. As for the comparing and discussing part, I really hate it. The reason is when the teacher announced the worst and the best essay, the students with the worst essay will feel bad of their writing, and afraid to try better whereas, the idea that she or he got is the idea that the teacher wants them to come out with. As for the discussing, I do not really call it as discussing, since the teacher did not tell what is wrong and what is right in the essay, but the teacher simply say that the essay is not good enough and we need to come again with a better one.
3. What do I wish my teacher to do?
What I wish my teacher to do is that, to give us chance to write what we want and how we want it to be. I wish that my teacher will let us to be as creative as we can be by simply pour out what we want to write on the paper, by simply let us to express our thought, instead of making us to write what they want us to write. The teacher should try to help the students to convey their meaning better instead of telling them what to tell. I also wish that my teacher will really be a teacher, that guide us to what is wrong and what is right, instead of being an instructor of telling us what to do, and how it is done in writing.
