Why is Myrtle Beach So Popular? In most cases, when people hear the name South Carolina they instantly think Myrtle Beach. Myrtle Beach is probably one of the most popular places in South Carolina. Why is Myrtle Beach so popular? Myrtle Beach is popular because of its famous history, amusements, and entertainments, the best dining places, and most of all its beautiful weather especially in the summer. First of all, the history and background is always something that is great to know about a place. Myrtle Beach’s history is fun-filled, intriguing, and fascinating. In fact, Myrtle Beach’s first inhabitants were the Waccamaw Indians and the Winyah Indians; they named their region Chicora which means “the land.” Kings highway, a major thoroughfare …show more content…
It does not matter if you go to Myrtle Beach on a honey moon or if you are with a large group of people, there is always some type of fun you can get into at “The Beach.” Myrtle Beach has a wide variety of attractions and activities to ensure that there is always something for everyone to do no matter what age someone is. One of Myrtle Beach’s most popular places is known as Brookgreen Gardens. Brookgreen Gardens has been around for eighty-five years; it is known to be an inspirational, refuge and retreat for the Myrtle Beach area. Brookgreen Gardens offers a wide variety of tours to go on along with programs and exhibits for all ages. It is stated that Brookgreen Gardens changes by the season with new exhibitions and different special events and that is why it is simply beautiful and amazing ("Welcome to Brookgreen Gardens"). Most of all, what brings people to Myrtle Beach is the public and private sand beaches. There is hardly any place else that has great beaches like Myrtle Beach, S.C. The beaches are safer the anywhere else in the nation, they have had less shark attacks then any other beaches in the world. There is about sixty miles worth nothing but Atlantic Ocean and fun. It is popular for all the right reasons. It is beautiful because of all of its amenities and more. It is a very popular and because of the things it consists of that hardly exists anywhere else it will continue to be loved and popular around the U.S. Myrtle Beach will continue to grow and get even better than what it is now and people will continue to love it and go back to it each and every summer, maybe even in the winter. The beaches, amusement parks, water parks, museums, fine restaurants and top of the line hotels are why Myrtle Beach is so popular and it will stay in business and will be one of the reasons why people will continue to visit South

    There are many legends and ghost stories that have arisen from the Myrtles Plantation. However, which are actually true? To understand some of the legends behind the plantation, you should understand the history behind it. The Myrtles Plantation is an antebellum plantation that was built around 1796 and 1797 by General David Bradford, also known as “Whisky Dave” in St. Francesville, Louisiana (Kermeen 43). Bradford lived there alone for a while. He then moved his wife, Elizabeth, and his five children to the Louisiana plantation from the northeast. Once his daughter, Sara, was grown, she married Bradford’s law student, Clark Woodruff. When Bradford died in 1808, Sara and her husband cared for the plantation for her mother (Kermeen 43). Sara and Clark had three children while married: Cornelia Gale, James, and Mary Octavia. In 1834, Woodruff sold the plantation, the land, and its slaves to Ruffin Gray Stirling (“Myrtles Plantation”).…
