During her first day, I orientated her to the house and gave her …show more content…
I sourced for a new maid to look after my children. After about two months, the maid agency contacted us and said that they had a maid for us. I felt really happy because I was going through serious distress over having a new baby when my maid had suddenly disappeared! The new maid was slightly older, in her 40s, but I told myself it did not matter so long as she was fit for work. However after taking the new maid back home, I realized that she was very slow and could not understand the Malay language well. I had difficulties communicating with her because she only understood her own dialect. I started to feel worried whether she could handle my children because my children are my utmost priority. I spoke to her slowly and tried to use sign language to make her understand my instructions in the hopes that she would understand at least the basics of what I was telling her. I took her to the bathroom with my son. I knew very well my son would cry seeing a stranger bathing him. I also wanted to teach her how to bathe my son. I told her to hold my son firmly so that he would not fall down in the bathroom. I demonstrated how she should prepare the milk for my daughter so that she would know how to do it. The following morning, I asked her to prepare milk for my daughter thinking that she would know how since I had already taught her the way. I was in complete shock that she didn’t mix the milk with cold water, but just hot water. Luckily, I grabbed hold of the bottle before she put it inside my daughter’s mouth. It was freaking hot! I told her that babies couldn’t take hot milk just like that. She tried to tell me that she had already mixed the milk with cold water. I knew she was lying because I had watched her every movement and she didn’t realize it. I told her that she was lying but she blatantly denied her actions. Later in the night, I told her that she needed to observe my son closely and follow him wherever he went. So she did what I said and followed him. I followed behind her and my child. My son started to take something from the kitchen top to put in his mouth. Still, she did nothing except stare at him. When I told her to take it away from him, my son put up a struggle and she stood there doing nothing. I reiterated to her firmly that she needed to watch my son closely at all
