Narrative Essay On Hockey
“Good Luck , David” said my mom and my sister. It was finally the day that I was going to tryout to make the “A” team of the NJ Avalanche. I worked as hard as an ant all year, I took hockey lessons before school, and afterschool, till 11 o’clock.. I started hockey because of my friend, which he introduced me to hockey, which then I was interested in playing hockey. Today, I have to go to the Ice House to attend the tryout at 7 o'clock.. I knew I could do it, but on the other hand, I was thinking about what is going to happen if I do not make the team. I had to keep telling myself that I can do it and that I will make the team.
Today was not any different than any other day. I got up, ate breakfast, went to school, and came back. I knew my tryout was at 7 o’clock., so I went straight to Cutting Edge, which is a place I often go for defensive clinic, and once again, I was practicing defensive skills, which I had to skate as fast as a cheetah. Actually, I have been practicing almost the same thing for a whole year. I am always thankful to my sister, because she waits hours and hours outside when I have hockey practice, which is pretty boring. My sister is as nice as an angel. Also, I knew that there is still room to improve. I was excited and nervous at the same time, because it is finally the day of the

We were all nervous. I also had mixed emotions. I thought about how hard I’ve worked all year, and I was determined to make the team. I had to sacrifice my time, which I would be doing homework.. I also thought about how my mom always would give me car rides to go to practice, because without her, I would not have been able to practice so often. She is an angel. Then I made a joke to break the silence, and my sister started laughing. After that, we talked about what we are going to do after the tryout, and other stuff. Then after about 5 minutes of talking, we arrived at the Ice

It was a crisp spring day the birds were chirping and the bugs were buzzing and my brother and I, at the age of 10, were playing around in the backyard of our house. All we were doing was just playing around in the backyard having a fun time being normal children as always. Then I came up with this perfect idea to play hockey because since we all love hockey. So we wouldn't work garage I got a plastic baseball bat and my brother got a wooden baseball bat plus a whiffle ball.…

When the first game came I was extremely happy yet nervous also. We ended up winning the game by the score of three runs to two although I did not get to bat at all and was put in only for two innings of defense. I was disappointed that I did not get to play much but I was happy with the win. Our second game was the next day and I hoped to get more playing time then. When that day came it turned out that we were playing an extremely skilled team. We were losing three to one in the last inning and I still hadn’t played at all the whole game. One of my friends hit a double and then another one of my teammates hit a single to knock him in to score. The score was now three to two and we had a chance to come back. My coach then decided that we needed someone faster on the bases so he called for a…

Shoulder fake left, head fake right, a sweet inside outside move, and he fires it in top shelf, beating the goalie glove side to win the game. While that may sound like a narrative of a game-winning hockey goal, in reality, it is 1:30 AM on your average Thursday night and I am struggling to find the perfect concluding sentence to finish my history term paper. Often when I am struggling to find an answer to a question or need to concentrate on any given topic, I reach for my worn-out Warrior hockey stick and my dusty orange ball and begin to stickhandle mindlessly. One might never know, that my mind is far away from hockey as I look like a complete fool deking (hockey term for getting past people) imaginary people on my way to an imaginary net.…

It has to take incredible courage to process a challenge like losing a limb in war. Stories abound from young men and women who stepped on a mine, or were ambushed, and their vehicle blown-up. For some, the moment is frozen in time and they cannot shed it. For others, they don't remember anything before waking up in the hospital without all their parts. To take in that realization, and then go on to perform as a star athlete is to this author, unimaginable. The incredible strength and perseverance to go on with life and then for some, to further demonstrate their zeal for life in their high level of participation in sports, is mind blowing.…

Since my roommate is also on my team it was a huge relief to meet someone before our parents even left. Since then it's been smooth sailing and have made number of friends on the team, many which I already know ill be very good friends with in the future. This was probably the biggest relief for me so far because I had no idea what to expect. I kept worrying about how the kids, especially the new recruits, would be and literally every one is an awesome person. I didn't realize how much being on a sports team would help me make friends this fast, which I am extremely grateful for. We've all had so much fun already and we are just one week into school. On top of all of that, we are all at least 20 years old and up as freshman. I think this gives us a big advantage of transition for things like college because we are all at least two years more mature then we would have if we had gone right from high school. Now that is not to toot my or any of my friends horns, but I do feel as if the maturity level is definitely higher then it would have been by the overall way we carry and present ourselves as opposed to being 17 or 18. If the year is going to continue on like this, I can only imagine how much fun it's going to be. This is also all going without mentioning the hockey part. Hockey hasn't even started yet which excites me that much more.…

As we entered the last week of practice, I wanted relish what I thought would be the last few moments of the season. The varsity head coach was present at the last day of practice, and I was surprised when he pulled me aside during a drill. He told me that he had noticed my success during the season, and he wanted me to join the varsity team; for the varsity team still had two weeks of practice left before the state tournament. I held in my excitement and accepted his offer.…

20177055 I would be a great candidate for the National Honor Society for many reasons. To begin with, I have a lot of experience being a leader and having responsibility as I was a captain for the Morris Knolls lacrosse team as a sophomore and the Morris Knolls field hockey team as a junior. Being an underclassmen, taking on a role of this magnitude seemed like a daunting task at first. Having been selected by my coach, I was shocked when she first announced my name. However, I soon realized that I was more than capable of taking on this role and looking back, I am grateful for the opportunities I was given as I was able to learn a lot about myself.…

Baseball is a sport which involves two teams made up of, more or less, nine players. A baseball game is played on what we call a baseball field. Baseball is has been called the bat-and-ball game, in which a pitcher throws the baseball as fast and hard as he can and the batter tries to make contact with the baseball. Hitting a baseball requires hand-eye coordination. The players in the outfield attempt to catcher the ball before the batter reaches home base.…

After we finished running, he divided us into our grades. I was a tenth grader, so I went with the tenth grade group. I played with them for a while when one of the coaches told me to go play with the bigger kids. I was so excited! I didn’t know anyone in their group, but I didn’t have to speak English to play with them, so I just played. When we finished our fast day of tryouts, the coach asked me where I was from, and I told him I am from Kenya. He said, “Alright, see you tomorrow.” The next day I came, we ran a lot, andI don’t even remember if we played soccer. When I went home, I was so exhausted that I just went to sleep. The tryout went for a while, and everyone was trying his best to make the school team. The time came for the coaches to choose the team. The ninth grade coach started calling the names of the freshmen that made the freshmen team. Then tenth grade was announced next, and then the junior varsity come I heard my name! I was surprised that I make JV because I thought l would make varsity, but the JV coach told me JV will make me a good player and ready for varsity next year. My cousin and I have been talking about trying out for the football team ever since I arrived into middle school. He eventually convinced me to try out and I started preparing for the tryouts. Once I told my mom she was elated that I would finally try out for a sport. “Great job for finally choosing to be active and you better kill it at the tryouts,” my Mom exclaimed.…

During my freshman year of high school, my soccer experience was permanently reshaped. Our team had lost its goalie. Our team needed to either recruit a new goalie, or find an existing team member to fill that position. Prospects did not look good, so I volunteered to take the goalie spot. Though I had played soccer for many years, this was my first year playing the goalkeeper position. I had no idea what I was getting myself into; I had acted on behalf of the team and our collective need. At first, I was very nervous about playing goalie. This nervousness quickly diminished when I realized that I had a natural talent for playing goalkeeper. I was shocked, relieved, and proud by my innate ability to play my new position. I am so happy that I took the risk, experience playing, because I have played that position ever since, and I truly love it. With my hard work, I am getting better each day, step by step.…

At this moment I've gotten my hopes up and I'm almost certain that I'm going to make the team. When the day of tryouts come, November 4rth, 2012, my alarm goes off and I wake up, get myself situated, say a prayer, grab my favorite sneakers (which at the time was the Under Armour Black Ice : Brandon Jennings Milwaukee Bucks Home Red Strap Colorway), tie them to my backpack, grab a bowl of frosted flakes and sling my backpack onto my scrawny shoulders and hop into my older brothers car so that he could drop me off at school. I’m a little nervous once I’ve finished my school day once the bell rings and the announcements go off saying in a big hefty voice “ALL BOYS PARTICIPATING IN BASKETBALL TRYOUTS PLEASE REPORT TO THE MAIN GYM NO LATER THAN TWO O’FIVE”. I sprint down the hallway and make sure I’m the first one in the gym. After a good two hours of running, doing drills I’ve done before and Scrimmaging I feel exhausted but none the less confident and satisfied with my…

About a month before try-outs I had to get my act together and start working out. So everyday after school I would go with my friend Trevor to the gym so I could run and get in shape. This was crucial because I hadn’t run much since last summer. After working hard at the gym, another aspect of my game had to be brought up to the next level, shooting. So instead of my daily routine of going to the gym after school, I would go home and shoot on my lacrosse goal. Everyday after school I would at least shoot a little bit in hopes of making varsity in March.…
