FACTORS AFFECTING THE NATIONAL ACHIEVEMENT TEST PERFORMANCE OF FOURTH YEAR HIGH SCHOOL STUDENTS IN MATATALAIB HIGH SCHOOL
Chapter 1 Introduction:

Achievement test is a form of evaluation that includes the techniques for determining whether or not students reach the goals specified by the teachers based on the Philippine Secondary Schools Learning Competencies (PSSLC)
For several years now the researcher have observed that the students in Fourth Year of Matatalaib High School have been struggling in their performance in Filipino IV as indicated by the results of the yearly National Achievement Test(NAT). Poor performance is a problem manifested in various subject areas and more observable in Filipino IV. In the previous years, a number of strategies and interventions were administered by the teacher to tackle the issue but only produced marginal positive result. The teacher attributed this poor performance to several factors including but not limited to the students’ lack of study habits, poor home reinforcement and encouragement as well as poor diet and nutrition. To assist students in increasing their Filipino MPS in NAT, the teacher made this action research. This study aimed in looking into students’ problems. To be able to relate themselves harmoniously to the environment, individuals should see through themselves and know their self-adjustments. Hence, there is a need to determine students’ problem, so that favorable adjustments could be facilitated. Certain measures based on facts can be adopted to solve students’ problems. Students may be given more attention and motivation thus enhancing their academic performance.
Statement of the Problem
This research sought to study the Factors Affecting National Achievement Test Performance of Fourth Year High School Students of SanManuel High School-Annex
Specifically, it sought answers to the following questions:
