This essay is to prove that Tom Robinson the main character in the novel ‘’To kill a moking bird’’by Nelly Harper lee in 1960 is innocent.
Firstly, before the trial. Tom robinson was acused of raping Mayella Ewell in november 21. But he was not guilty. He did not commit this crime. The story was that Mayella kissed Tom Robinson, and at the same time her father saw them through the window. Tom ran away as fast as he could although he was not guilty. He felt not safe to remain. Especially him being a negro.
Secondly, Atticus, Jem,Scout and other black folks knew that Tom Robinson was not guilty. Atticus finch knew that he was not guilty so he went to defend him at the trial. All evidences proved that Tom was innocent, but I the mid 1900s, racism was high against the black people was still running. Atticus knew that he will not win how matter evidences Tom had convincedd with during the trial.
Thirdly, in the trial.Bob Ewell started proving his evidence that Tom is guilty, his evidence that Tom is guilty,his evidence was that Tom guilty, his evidence was that Tom is guilty, his evidence was that Mayella was beaten up in her left-side of her face which means that the man who had beaten her was a left-handed man. Atticus stood to prove his evidence and to defend Tom Robinson. Atticus commented on what Bob mentioned. He said that Tom Robinson had no choice rather than catching the glass by his right hand.
Thus, Justice is considered something could be measured by colours.There was no justice at that time. Although Tom Robinson was innocent. The jury decided that he is guilty.
