In 1875, Captain Pratt decided to take a group of Indians, suspected of murdering white settlers and put them in a boarding school. I believe it shows interesting history about how other cultures not just Native Americans, has been forced to become Americanized. It not fair when people are born into the country, but they don’t have a choice nor a voice if they haven't borne an Anglo-American. Anglo American’s think they are the chosen people. It’s not ethical that the white men took away Native American’s identity, the usual way of living and their customs.
The white man had more power over them, and they took away the rights and privileges of the Native Americans. The Native American's tried to rebel, but they were unsuccessful, it was unfair that the White man stole the Native Americans ways of life. The children became homesick and powerless when they were trying to change the way they got treated.
It was a surprise to me how the white men would trick the Native Americans into changing the way they children should appear, however, making them conduct themselves accordingly while taking away their land. Just how disrespectful and degrading could that had been, having your traditions, religion, and the clothes you wear, that’s traditional to you, taken away. I think this was harsh of the white men to do this to the natives Indians. When other cultures don't resemble the white man, it should be impossible allow them to have authority to change others values because they don’t resemble them. The white men also took away the Native American given name and forced them to change their names, but despite all that, it still didn’t affect who they truly are.
I think the reason the white man wanted to destroy the Native American’s they seen them as unclean unclothed savages that were always hunting and could not be trusted.
The fact that they wanted to assimilate them into their traditional way of living that they would give them a second impunity to this new industrial age.
