The peace between the Native Americans began to disappear and started to kill their respect for their leader in 1849
Despite another treaty they have signed on February 15, 1861, things went wrong quickly and the questionable fairness resulted in a massacre of 30 Native Americans.
The massacre was also under the command of Colonel Manuel Chaves, who is also the commander of Fort Wingate.
Following the recent massacre, military leaders were planning the Navajo for the Long Walk.
To make their plan complete the army had to make war on the Mescalero Apache and Navajo Indian tribes.
They destroyed the fields, orchards, houses, and their livestock completely.
