Nature is a genetic inheritance or a genetic code a person inherits from both parents at the time of conception and they will carry it throughout their life. Some things a person can inherit from their parents are gender, blood type, hair color, eye color, risks for certain diseases and cancers, and height. Genetics influenced my development in a big way. One example of how nature influenced my development is, both of my parents are short, and unfortunately I inherited the genes of being short as well. I am 30 years old and am only 5’1. I have never let my lack of being tall hinder who I am. Another gene that influenced my development is my eyesight. My mom has to wear glasses or contacts. I inherited her bad eyesight. I can see without wearing them, but I can’t see far off without them. NURTURE Nurture is different environmental situations a person is around from birth until death. Environmental factors can include both physical and social environments. Physical environment is body types. You can somewhat determine how your body will look. It depends on how you work out, what you eat and partially what your parent’s body types are. Social environments include where you live, your friends, family, school, church, neighbors, and how you live. My family was a nurturing as they could be. One example of how my environment influenced my development is, my parents didn’t have much money when I was growing up. They didn’t have a nice car or house. My parents couldn’t afford to buy a house. As a matter of fact we were constantly moving due to my dad chasing money to make ends meet. We lived in trailer parks and low income housing due to lack of money. I live a more financial and stable life now due to how I grew up. My husband works hard to provide for us. I have two boys and my husband and I wanted our boys to grow up with more and better than we did. We live in a small town in Louisiana that we love. We don’t move constantly. My boys have been in one place
