From an early age, adolescents want to fit in with everyone else. Descendents look up to their parents, older siblings, and other family members. Being addicted to drugs or alcohol may come from genetics, but most importantly their environment can also influence them. Statistics prove that in 2009, 12 to 17 year olds in the Northeast were reported to have the uttermost alcohol use in the United States with 32% meanwhile, the South has a percentage of 28.9. Being born in a city is different from being born in the country. For example, Al Capone, an American gangster, was born in Brooklyn, NY and was the son of Italian immigrant parents and joined a gang. In the early 1920’s, Capone has killed 4 people himself. Viola Davis, award-winning actress, was born in South Carolina but was raised in Rhode Island, grew up poor but now, is a very successful woman starring in TV shows such as How To Get Away with Murder.
