AGENCY AND EVENTS
1. Ben Franklin, pointing to the sun carved on the back of the presiding officer's chair, remarked; "Throughout the days we have been laboring here, I have observed that sun, and wondered whether it was a rising sun or a setting sun. Now I know it was a rising sun."1 Throughout our lives we have been told of how our country was formed. I am here to tell you about the things the history books and teachers don’t tell you about the freemasons and there shaping of the United States of America. We will start with freemasons an agency that has been shaping history since the building of King Solomon’s temple.
2. George Washington, Benjamin Franklin, John Hancock, Benedict Arnold, and General Henry “Hap” Arnold were all freemasons, a brotherhood of man, based on the principles of brotherly love, relief, and truth.2 Freemasons show tolerance and respect for the opinions of others and have a compassion and understanding of their fellowman even though they are not the same. Truly embodying the concept of diversity across many lines Furthermore masons provide relief to those around them through simple moral support all the way to large scale community support. Masons will show a service to mankind over themselves all in the understanding that a happier neighbor and community will lead to a happier mankind Furthermore masons strive for truth in all aspects of their lives from their view of themselves to their dealings with others. The high moral standards these men endeavor to uphold in their public and private lives show their true dedication to the betterment of mankind and the US people. Now that we know what a freemason is and what makes them who they are we will now look at how these great men shaped the United States.
