A Free Trade Agreement between USA and EU
I will analyze a negotiation between these two great powers who can be said to be equals in terms of trade, where they negotiate a free trade agreement with each other. Both parties have different interests however, they are likely to reach a consensus when it comes to increasing trade which will lead to enormous economic development as well as other important economic improvements on both sides of the ocean. The main issues in this agreement consist of the standards of health both countries have. Considering the amount of foreign direct investment businesses from both parties have in the opposing countries, they choose their type of investment according to the laws and regulations that the state has implemented in production processes. The EU has a considerably more strict regulation policy when it comes to imports of food products which mainly consist of the existence of Genetically-Modified Organism containing goods being exported mostly from the USA to the rest of the world. There is an ongoing pressure from US producers to export these goods into the EU, however, the European Union member states refuse to import goods which do not fulfill the requirements of their own standards. The main interest of both parties is to accelerate the trade between this transatlantic relationship, however the producers in the US put high pressure on the administration on the matter, whereas, the people of Europe refuse to allow the incoming of such goods. When we analyze the parties involved in this negotiation, it comes down to basic human necessities, which is why the EU fights real hard during these negotiations to not allow those types of goods. I think that one of the reasons for this negotiation to drag on for a lot longer period than it should is due to the balance of power between the states involved. Since we consider EU as a whole in this case, and not made up of many different states, we can safely say that
