Never Too Late
Being in love with life is something that everyone should acquire eventually. It is never too late for a person to be who they might have been. It can take a long time for someone to find a passion or a drive to become what he has always wanted to be. Some people might have been too afraid to come out as being homosexual, others might have had too low of a self esteem to like who they are, and others might have grown up in a place with no hope. It will always be difficult trying to accomplish what has already been lost in life, but it is never too late for a second chance. For many people out in the world, they have a difficult time fitting in with society. A racy topic, such as being openly gay, is hard to overcome for most. People will go through most of their life not having a relationship with the people they are meant to be with. Being ridiculed and picked on are some of the things that homosexuals have to deal with on a daily basis, whether it is at school or in the media. To be happy, people should live the way they are meant to be and have a commitment with the gender they are attracted to. It is never too late for somebody to open up about themselves, because even though time is limited, there is still plenty of it. There is no limit in life to being happy and pleased with the skin a man or woman is born. Dealing with big decisions such as sexual preference can also bring low self-esteem and isolation from peers. People deal with the pressure of fitting in throughout every day of one’s life. No matter who says they are perfectly comfortable with whom they are, there is always at least one thing that they wish they could change about themselves. For some people, they do not like the way they look, and others may not be the best at a certain sport. There is always a way to improve so that one’s self esteem will rise. To have a low self-esteem is to be nervous, not happy, and always worried about what will be said when they leave the room. During

Self-esteem is a way a child feels about themselves. Everyone has it in different degrees. A child with high self-esteem generally feels good about themselves and feels they have a lot to offer. A child with low or poor self-esteem generally feels worthless and that they have little to contribute. Without positive self-esteem it is highly unlikely that a child would have a full, happy and productive life. The development of self-esteem starts very early in life. For example, when a child learns to walk or talk they feel a sense of having achieved something. Praise and encouragement at this point from parents, or people important in their life, boosts the positive feelings they have about themselves and encourages the child to go on achieving. Love, praise and encouragement are essential elements in helping a child develop a positive self-esteem.…

For many years homosexuals have been persecuted and looked down upon for leading different lifestyles than the so-called "normal," person. Homosexuals live in fear; a fear of opening up and showing the world their true selves. There are many reasons why homosexuals chose and still choose to stay in the "closet." The fact that many people thought lesbians and gay men had psychological problems was one of them. According to the article The Stonewall Riots- 1969, Sigmund Freud's writings on sexuality in the early 1900's and his theories on homosexuality, the public began to think that lesbians and gay men would benefit from medical treatment. Freud's theories primarily stated that homosexuality was something learned in childhood and was basically a choice. A choice that physicians thought they could change through treatments such as castration, hypnosis, surgery, electric shock, drugs and hormones. (Wright)…

In order to have a high self-esteem and be happy, people need to establish what self is. Everyone has self-esteem according to Twenge. Since childhood, people are told to “just be themselves,” so that others can accept us for who we really are. Even though being true to oneself personality wise, people act differently, depending on the situation at hand. One does not usually act the same way in school as they do in a home setting. One does not talk the same way to a friend as they do to a teacher. It is all dependent on what the situation calls for. Twenge says that when wanting to know how to act in a social situation, one should “just be themselves” (Twenge 491). With this being said, a person with high self-esteem will have the confidence to be themselves because they value who they are, while a person with low self-esteem will find it hard to be themselves because they will think that people will not like them for who they are. Therefore, a front is put up and people act differently when interacting…

When a person has low self-esteem they can feed off each other in a vicious circle; the more depressed or anxious they become the lower their opinion of their self and their abilities. Things that can lower people’s self-esteem are if people discriminate them about their appearance or if they are unhappy with their self-image. For example in the questionnaires I collected my information from, a person was discriminated…

When someone says the word “self-esteem” the first thing that comes to my mind is a celebrity that has the whole world watching their every move and think to myself, “It must be hard to keep healthy, high self-esteem with the whole world judging what a certain celebrity is wearing or how they fixed their hair just to go to the grocery store.” Self-esteem is a personal evaluation and judgement of one person’s own self. There are different kinds of self-esteem. One kind of self-esteem is high self-esteem, which means a person is confident with their looks, opions, ideas, or anything to do with their own self. If a person has high self-esteem they believe that they deserve respect from other people and they are usually happy. Another kind of self-esteem is low self-esteem. Low self-esteem means a person lacks confidence. Low self-esteem people are unhappy and unsatisfied with their own personal appearance and put little value to their opions. Low self-esteem can cause depression and anxiety. A person can have a mix of self-esteem where their self-esteem isn’t very high but also isn’t low. At moments, a person with mixed self-esteem may value their own opions and at other times start to doubt it.…

In today's society it seems that everywhere you look, you are pressured into thinking of yourself as inferior. There are signs every where you look telling you that you are not pretty enough, smart enough, thin enough, or that anything you have is not good enough.
