In this essay I will discuss the case of New United Motor Manufacturing, Inc. (NUMMI) that jointly owned by the General Motor Co. (GM). From the case that NUMMI was starting badly because of the problem involved the employee, they were doing a lot of bad habits in the company including drug abused and results in lots of employee were laid-off. After joining with the Toyota, NUMMI starts new kinds of regulation to fix mistakes in the past as they made the No-strike, no-layoff agreement and what makes this company turn the table. Starts from the physiological, NUMMI make the self-report time sheets for the employee to give them responsibility in managing their own working time so they have to finish a specific amount of working time with no strict starting time to make them feels like their own home. Second is the safety needs, NUMMI gives no strict attendance system which allow the employee not to be asked for reasons when they was absence and let the company’s norm regulate such matter. Third is belongingness, NUMMI implement a new philosophy to the employee to “work like your name is on the plant” to make the employee have close link to company’s project. Fourth are the esteem needs, NUMMI set all the employees and managers are in the same cafeteria and uniforms to teach them about mutual respect even with different level in the organization. Lastly is about the self-actualization needs, it is the performance based reward give to the employee for those who gives a superior performance as this benefit the employee as well in enhancing their own capabilities and potential. As that matter, we can imply that the employee make a good effort in reaching a good performance in the car manufacturing and the outcomes are worth of time consuming because they get a higher result in the 1995. Moreover, they can cut cost from the amount of water used in the manufacturing from the 1,000 gallons to 680 gallons. Those make this company a better place to work and safe the company’s life from bankruptcy. Best example for this is the case of instagram (Bertoni. S, 2012), Kevin Systrom was the creator of instagram and he was just an employee for a company named Odeo and his effort to make a social media application starts learning from Google, and Facebook made him able to create a very unique application content and the outcome was he got one billion dollar by selling instagram to Facebook
